Has anyone heard the first track of Al DiMeola's album 'Elegant Gypsy', 'Flight Over Rio'? Do you think the guy who wrote that (not Al himself, but Mingo Lewis) might have listened to Tubular Bells?

OK, nobody seems to know that one, so I've found you a site with a RealAudio of it: http://www.guitar9.com/albums/dimeolaal02.html
I hope it's really the beginning of the track (my RealPlayer somehow doesn't work), else you won't know what I'm talking about.

What section of TB do you allude to, Archangel? To the second one (i.e. the TB1 equivalent of Dark Star)?
If that's what you have in mind, then I must admit that IMHO the MO influence is fairly weak. wink

No, I'm referring to the opening section, the TB equivalent of Sentinel. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then probably the RealAudio file isn't the beginning of the track - sorry, as I said above I couldn't check this out as my RealPlayer doesn't work. As soon as I have the time I'll dl a new version and try to get this straight.

I've listened to it at last! It's indeed not quite what I had in mind...

It's rather similar- though the rest of the track isn't. The opening bit to TB part one seems to crop up in many different pieces by different artists- Flight Over Rio, also Where Opposites Meet by Sky, for example.
