I'll do some part requiring the guitar (dist or clean).....I'll even follow the bass line with a clean guitar. But does it all need to be midi?

Great idea for a group project!

Well you don't have to do midi...ill play along with the midi on bass...and you can do the same with the guitar. It's supposed to be an authentic cover :D

I think ill do the mixing, if you all play along to your parts and each send me your files then i can mix it all together.

All we need is doublespeed guitar and mandolin :)

Ok then just send me the bass line and I'll follow it.

Hey here's an idea....though it can be separate...or...whatever

Anyways, how about making a 'The Bell' where everyone plays the instrument they love the most as their own solo and when their part comes it'll be like "Korgscrew!" (or his real name and he'll start playing a mandolin, and "Brandon!" and I'll start playing guitar....and it wouldn't matter if every played something the same...ie-elec guitar because they're playing it in their own sound and in their own way and style...that would be cool..

Anyway, back to the main event....

Hehe that would be cool

Brandon, can you play along to the midi instead of a bass track? then mute the midi track and export it to me? that would be a lot easier.

Ok I'll follow along with the midi then. But what about the intro? Is it just going to start out with those basses? Or is someone going to do the little acoutic guitar build up thingy? And with those cool organ-like sounds. I made a quick guitar version to tell you what I mean. http://smc.sq7.org/brandon/bell.ogg (hehe I got a bit carried away and made more than the intro lol) Or maybe someone can do the entire Russian acoustic guitar piece on acoustic guitar? That would be good....But whatever works.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Booster :).

Also, at a certain point, another clean guitar (slightly different sound) comes in and plays along with the other clean guitar. I may record that as well...if I do, do you want me to have it all in the same sound file? or separatley so you can mix them together in your own way?

Ok I've finished them. My! How did Mike do it so well without so much as at least one major mistake! He did it all in one take, didn't he? It's crazy. If I make one mistake I have to go back and record it from the beginning again. I think what I ended up with passed, though. It's not gonna be that much in the foreground, anyway.

How do you want me to send it? wav (big)? mp3? ogg? and do you just want me to post it up in this topic?

BTW- 1:20 on the midi is when the other guitar comes in. Also on the first guitar, since it starts so abruptly and can't really prepare, I kinda missed it at first and sped up to catch up to it again. But other than the beginning there on the first guitar, everything else seems ok to me.

so should I record my parts too?
and how you want them? with silence before my solo starts?
so it will be easy to mix it or you just want my part without silence before?
you know like...hmm a solo starts at 2:30 for example
so I can have 2:30 silence before it comes (easy to mix)
or I can cut those 2:30 silence but you will have to give it to the right time...

And BTW all the recordings have to be without FX...I think the one who will mix them will be better to add them...

I notice you have me down for acoustic guitars in the rythm section....hate to tell you this, but I don't actually have an acoustic guitar :). Are you talking about the guitar that follows the bass line? That's a clean electric not an acoustic.
