100th post... :D

I've almost finished the bass guitar parts, just got to tweak them up a bit.

My parts are done...
I did not use any effects it's on the mixer/editer to add them...

I've tried to download this, but the Glockenspiel part is over 8 MB! BOOsTER, why is it so large? Did I miss out on something and we're expected to each do an epic version of it on our instruments respectively?

The glockenspiel part carries on all the way from when it comes in until the end, so the file is the full length.

It's also 256kbps stereo, which brings up the file size. It's perfectly ok to record the parts in mono - preferable, actually, seeing as I'll probably make them pan in the same way as the original, which will involve narrowing the stereo image (I may then widen it again once the part's had its solo, I'll see).

It's also perfectly possible to just play it once, or a couple of times, and loop that.

I've re-done my bass-line-following clean electric guitar. I think it sounds better. And the higher quality sound from my GT-6 doesn't hurt, either. I'm just working on the 2 distorted guitars. It's been hard to get it right, but I think most of the problem was down to the expression pedal settings. But I think I've got it now...was testing it this morning. I'll upload them both soon.

Alright! I've got a heavy computer, good software and record equipment! I'll try my first recording tomorrow. My part is coming soon!

Cheers to everyone!

Just a quickie I did last night, with different inflections, etc. I still have to work on not "popping" the mic so much when I speak. I tried the Alan Rickman low-key announcement for "tubular bells," but I think I ought to make it a bit more dramatic, however.

Yes, I'm from Canada...

Nice one, ktran, I like the laid back radio announcer style.

I personally like it when there's a bit of a build up from the first to the last instrument, with the introductions getting more dramatic towards the end (the last run you do of it has a bit of that going on, I think), but do whatever works for you :)

I might try cutting that up and sticking bits of it into the master mix file if I get the chance. You might find it helps to record the part along to the music, if you're not doing it that way already, but then again, you might not...like I say, whatever works!

The funniest I ever did was imitating Billy Connolly's version (well, actually, the absolute funniest was the TB3 imitation...), but I think that's another story for another time...

Ok mine are all done. I tried uploading to Booster's upload thing he had but it didn't work. So I just uploaded it to my server.

There is one clean guitar and 2 distortions. The clean one follows the bass line through the entire song. It misses a couple notes at the beginning because I wasn't sure when the playing would start when I recorded it...so..ya...just a couple notes. With a bit of editing, you could take the notes from another part of the song and paste it at the beginning, though if need be.

One distortion is the main theme played from when it's solo starts all the way to near the very end. Korgscrew, you can edit that however you like. If you want it to keep playing you can, if you don't you can chop it up. Doesn't matter to me. Just thought I'd be thorough just in case ;). After the bells play the theme the second time the guitar starts playing the theme an octave higher. I thought that was Oldfield-ish. But anyway, however you want to do it is fine by me.

And the second distortion guitar is a couple harmonizing notes on top of the first guitar. It only plays once and not through the whole song.

Ok, parts in place - nice work!

This is really going to be a job and a half to bring together, but it's sounding quite decent already.
The high guitar under the bells, combined with the vocals coming in at that point, sounds great.

Keep 'em coming...

There are still some things I'd have to sort out before I do that.

To be honest, I'd prefer to leave it until it's finished before doing anything even close to going public with it, as people are just likely to get the wrong idea from hearing it in the hugely embryonic state it's in at the moment (when I say it's sounding good, I really mean more that it has potential rather than that it sounds anywhere near ready).

If people would like to hear how their parts are sounding in context, I might be able to sort something out come the weekend.

Agreed.

And Booster, Guitar1_2.mp3 is 8.41 Megs...that's probably why :/.

Brandon: that's the problem... :-/ I can't do a thing about the filesize limit for the web uploads. It's our network admin's thing and he doesn't want to change it...

OK, I'd like to apologize for my lameness. I still haven't done my part. There's a reason for it, but I don't feel like going into excuses here. In all likelyhood I won't be able to do it tomorrow either, but I promise to do it as soon as possible.

That's absolutely no problem at all, Holger. Don't rush it - take the time you feel it needs and do it well. You're not holding anything up.

I'm uploading the piano part. If everything goes well, it should be here by now.

There are a few mistakes, but I don't think they are that much of a problem. If they are, tell me, and I'll record it again. ;)

Now I've played along to it, I fully see the beaty of finale. I got a great time! :)
Again a cheer for Crisis' idea!
