There's a silly thing happening to my PC lately, mainly because of things included in some of those mp3 search engines, or lyrics-search web pages... here's how it goes.
When I turn on my PC and open Internet Explorer, the Search bar (i.e. the thing that appears when you press the Search button above) pops up without me wanting it, and it shows a stupid search page from I-Search. The silliest thing about it, however, is that if I close IE and re-open it, the Search bar doesn't pop up - it only does when I first start IE after booting the PC. And this is not particularly harmful to the computer or anything at all, it's just a nuisance. :/ I've tried every possible way [I think... :)] to get rid of this, including fiddling with the Windows registry, but everything is useless. So, is there anybody out there, as Roger Waters sang, who's technically knowledgeable enough to help me find a way to solve this ...ahem... little problem? ;)

P.S.: Since this was already extensively discussed two or three nights ago in the IRC #mike_oldfield chatroom, the people who were there may not bother to reply. That said, I have a vague feeling that I'll get very few actual replies to this topic...  oh well. :)

Geeze. Problems like those are a real pest to get rid of, if it's what I'm thinking of. My friend, once, had terrible problems with one other search page, and I mean terrible problems, like, Evil, pure 666. It took her a whole lot of work and help from someone who knew perfectly well about the problem, so I guess you'll have to do a little research on your own, Ugo. :/ There might be somewhere on the Internet where you can find a detailed explanation. If I were to give you a suggestion, did you try Ad-Aware or Spybot? They're programs that wipe out every adware and spyware you have on your PC. Maybe this might help, but it's just a shot in the dark. If it doesn't help, at least it will clean your PC pretty good. ;)

I'd personally suggest you look for some kind PC help forum, you will almost certainly find people who've had this problem before. I think that would be your best bet.

I can only reiterate what was said in IRC - there is going to be a file, or more likely several files, in there somewhere which is/are making the search bar appear. You just have to find them...

Good luck, and let's try and keep things at least somewhere close to on topic here - I think another forum is setting a bad example at the moment...
