:/ Have just tried to get a copy of Tubular Bells as I was around when it was first released.  Got the latest remixed copy but it does not have the narrative for the instruments and it does not seem to reach the same creshendo as I remember - is it my memory after 30 years.  Am in Australia I have the original LP but how do you get it from lp to cd? can anyone help? :O

Generally with these things, the first is usually the best, and the 1973 version is still astounding, for so many reasons, not least because it gave the world the great and unique Mike Oldfield, but it really do like the 2003 version, it's funny that so many people can prefer something that is so not perfect, against something that is far better recorded and played.

Just can't decide! I was around for the orginal - what a great piece of music! And thirty years on, the re-release is just wonderful - shows what a great piece of music the original was. It began my love affair with Mike Oldfield and it is still as strong as ever.

Oh yes... I voted for the original - for old times sake I guess.

There are a few special moments I particularly like on the orignial, that just were not the same on TB2003.

However I do hear the bum notes and imperfections on the original, which have been perfected on TB2003. I'm starting to prefer the introduction on 2003 too.

It would be virtually impossible to choose between the original and TB2003 as they're so close. But I guess I'm o connected to the original - no matter how perfect the re-recording, I'd probably stick with the definitive version.

That said, I've not heard many of the other versions, only Exposed.
