I know taht I could make that poll in two other albums but since it's on QE2 that the saga began I think it' logic that it goes there  :)

Don't forget "Punkadidle", which is like a "Taurus 0": one of its two themes is pretty much the same as that main Taurus theme shared between T1 and T2, only faster.

Taurus II for me, not just because it's the longest of the three. It would have been Taurus I, but toward the end it seriously loses it's way before the climax and sounds too much of a mish-mash. Sorry, this may not make sense to many, but I know what I mean. I'd better dig the vinyl out again so I can give approximate times of where it all seems to get a tad messy.

Punkadiddle = Taurus 0? I've never heard that either. Has Mike said that or is it merely a suggestion to debate?

I'm usually the last to recognize these things myself. Someone made the connection that the "A" theme of "Punkadiddle" was a lot like the Taurus theme, and I read it a long time ago, probably on the Amarok mailing list.

I know that the theme of Punkadiddle is pretty much a speeded up version of the 'bagpipe guitars' tune of Tubular Bells part 2, but I've never heard any connection with Taurus I or II. I'm not hugely fond of either Taurus I or II to be honest, I prefer Crises and The Lake a whole lot more.

Interesting. That would make "Guitars Sounding like Bagpipes" into "Taurus -1".  I never noticed that, but I see it now. Long ago I did recognize the "Guitars Sounding like Bagpipes"  theme in the Martian Thunderstorm in Hergest Ridge.

Well, I don't really believe in the Taurus 0 and Taurus -1 theory myself. To me, all melodies sound similar just because of that sequence of ascending notes. Other than that, they're fairly different.

About the poll itself, I choose Taurus 1: lovely set of lovely themes, very cleverly written.

I agree with you. I think a 4th Taurus or Tubular Bell is just forsaking new ideas and fresher material!  ;)  :D

It may seems a bit stupid but do you think that there is a link between the taurus trilogy and the bull in the arena in the video of "The wind chimes"??? :)

Hey Sonilink, tell your little brother that Taurus lv is actually called Fourus!!! Great that your kid bruv listens to Mikey Boy.

Taurus ll is the best for me, it just has bags of raw energy and kicks.    :)

I totaly agree with the fact that 3 taurus is enough. If there is to be a fourth I think this should be the lake. I dont know if anyone noticed this before. But if you take the albums QE2, Five miles out, Crises and discovery and take all the songs in sequence in a list, youll see that every ninth song is a taurus song. The ninth song after taurus 3 is the lake. Probably just a coincidence, but you never can tell with Mike ;)

My favourite taurus track is taurus 2. I think this song is brilliant!!!

The bull in The Wind Chimes is the constellation Taurus (it has the stars marked on it) - it's Mike's star sign, hence the references there and in the Taurus trilogy.

I think I said it elsewhere: Taurus II, because it's very varied. :)

Why did Mike make the taurus trilogy, why was it Taurus 1, 2 and 3 as opposed to separately named tracks?

Well, why not? They're variations of the same theme, it's quite logical to name them as he did (well, except for using arabic numbers for 1 & 3 and roman for II).

My theory is that Virgin wanted a trilogy to get customers buying QE2 to get Taurus I as they had taurus II and vice versa  :)

Taurus 3 is my favorite because it is short and sweet, compared to the other two. (T1: 10 minutes/T2: 24 minutes)

There are parts of the other two that I like. For example, I love the end of Taurus II with the zither. I don't like the section of Taurus 1 before the vocoder that Mike uses in the QE2 track.
