I've been listening to a bit of Enya this morning, and I've only just learned she turned down an invitation to do the vocal on Moonlight Shadow before Maggie Reilly was chosen. A fascinating "what if". I would have loved to have heard that.

Enya doesn't get enough praise, I think. She's a real musical visionary, if sometimes erring into all that soft/ new-agey Celtic stuff. But I've loved her ever since getting obsessed with her Watermark album when I was about 15 or so.

I think this is an urban legend. Hazel o'Connor was his first choice, when the song was called "Midnight Passion".

Enya is amazing, I have always thought she and Mike could work together, however, this is the 1st time I have heard of this, not sure if it's true, as far as I know, I agree it was Hazel O'Conner.

It's on Enya's Wikipedia page. There's a bit about her early solo career, 1982 onwards.
