From http://home5.swipnet.se/~w-57218/art/synth/prot_e.htm

You should be warned that the Proteus has a very easily recognizable sound.
If used in isolation on a recording, any Proteus owner will be able to
identify the machine right away. For instance, the album "Heaven's Open"
with Mike Oldfield sound pretty much like a Proteus 1 demo with some real
drums and guitars.

I played on the E-mu Proteus in a store. You can really recognize the sounds used in Heaven's Open, especially the sounds in Music from the Balcony. It's rather cheap there in the store, so I'm saving money to buy one!
