Does anyone know why the Drunken Dialogue was left off the Remaster of TB?

I bought the vinyl when TB was first released, and the remaster seems incomplete without the dialogue.

Hi freestate, if you refer to the "The Hallway, a great house true..." text (which is IMHO a drunken MONOlogue) the reason is (as I said somewhere else in this forum) the following:
The 16-track recording of TB has the monologue, but it was not included in the original mix-down. So, no reMASTER of the original mixdown can include it (since mastering comes after mixing).
The BOXED-mixdown has the monologue, so you have to get a BOXED record to hear it.
I was angry, too, when I bought the remaster, and it didn't have the monologue. Without it, the Sailor's Hornpipe is a bit trivial, isn't it? -Carsten-

Thanks for the reply Carsten.

Yes, I do have an original vinyl with the monologue. That's why I'm so disappointed
that it's not on the remaster.

Details are;

L 35127 (label says LQ-35,127)
Virgin Records 1974
Manufactured and distributed in Australia by Festival Records Pty. Limited, Australia.

It's also quadrophonic !

Simon

Hai, the boxed version of TB is a remix and quadrophonic. The original TB was NOT quadrophonic. So I think your vinyl version is infact the boxed version, probably released single.

Freestate, do you have the remaster 25th edition or the new HDCD version?
Could you please give me the timings on part one and part tow (including sailor's hornpipe).
Timings on TB (boxed) are part one 25:55 and part two 25:47.

Thanks for the replies.

I've got the 25th edition.

Part 1 = 25:31
Part 2 = 23:20

Total time = 48:57 (there's a 6 second gap between parts 1 & 2.

Simon.

Two notes...a little bit off-topic.

1) I've got an Mp3 of the whole Sailor's Hornpipe (including the monologue). If anybody wants it, please let me know by emailing me at ugocoppola@infinito.it.I'll gladly zip and send it to him.

2) My CD version of TB (apart from the not-too-well frown remastered version on Elements) is CDV 2001. Its timings are: Part 1, 25:34 [despite the fact that on the cover it says 25:00!! smile], Part 2, 21:44, Sailor's Hornpipe [Track 3, altough the cover does not list it and says "Part 2 (23:50)"!!], 1'33.
The same for Ommadawn Part 2 AND On Horseback.

I checked the discography at www.mikeoldfield.org (= Dark Star).
It lists a number of Australian releases with codes L-35127 or LQ-35127. Some of those were quadrophonic. One of these must be yours, freestate.

There is a copy of the Australia quadraphonic version in my house (not from boxed) and it doesn't include the Drunken version. It does however contain a recording of a model aeroplane after the original sailor's hornpipe.
