There are discussions elsewhere about whether the new age of digital purchases are better than holding a real CD in your hands. And we never got to see the USB stick version that was mentioned.

But, just out of curiosity, what did you do? No-one is agreeing with illeagal downloads around here, obviously, but it is a fact of modern life that it happens. The record company would probably be interested in this subject too.

Personally, I couldn't resist hearing the new album as soon as possible. But I have a complete collection, and I wanted the best quality format to listen to. So I got the pre-release and purchased a real CD.

I think anybody who downloaded this album pre-release and enjoyed it.Imo would be missing about big time if they did`nt then go out and buy the real thing on cd.I`ve got my computer hooked up to my hi-fi here and I thought the original pre-release for it was pretty good quality really. But nothing prepared me for hearing the sumptious depth and sheer range of dynamics on the cd version. All that time Mike spent at the mixing desk on this album is starting to pay grand sonic dividends for me now I`ll freely admit.

I waited (not so) patiently, and then bought the cd.  I did download Spheres though.

Again I have to say, there is an option missing in the poll.

*Listened to music of the spheres and then downloaded some internet porn

I've got everything. I downloaded mp3s of the promo copy (kindly provided by Dkay), I bought and downloaded the live version (which I'm gonna buy again, 'cause the CD I made from them is horrible and I deleted the original m4p files), I bought Spheres from 7digital, and next week - when the MotS CD comes in shops here - I'm going to buy the CD. I'm not wasting any time in ordering it online. I've waited so long for this, a week more won't really hurt me. :p

I downloaded pre-release,bought the CD,but I was forced to get Spheres as well as Live at Bilbao not on iTunes, since the store isn't open here in Brazil,it did hurt me a lot, since I've got all the official CDs and DVDs from MO and I hate downloading illegally stuff,it goes against my principles :/

If there will be a future official release of Spheres + live at Bilbao on a physical CD,of course I'm going to buy it!!!

I did almost the same as you Tati, except I managed to purchase Spheres through 7digital by Paypal. The Live at Bilbao recording was sent to me as an Easter Egg as I was totally unable to get it :-)

I...

Downloaded the Spheres Demo from iTunes and listened to it endlessly

Went to Bilbao to stand behind a concrete pillar

Downloaded Tempest from Amazon and listened to it endlessly

Downloaded the oficial version from iTunes and listened to it endlessly (but can't figure out what happened to the elusive pdf booklet)

Will buy the CD at some point and will no doubt listen to it endlessly

So it looks like the most common option (so far) was to get a free (albeit slightly dodgy) download, but then love it so much that we paid for the CD.

Apart from wanting to hear the music in much better quality, it's also the aspect of "owning" the CD. This has been talked about loads elsewhere. But I hope the Record Comapny is listening, because it proves that downloading does not hurt sales.

Hopelessly waiting for a beautiful 200g vinyl release...

Seriously, I resisted the temptation of listening to any pre-release of MOTS, and I am going to buy the CD when it's released in my country (somwhere about next week I guess).

cheers

If MOTS on CD is gorgeous in terms of sound,I can imagine on LP...for many years I exposed to classical music on LP,sometimes I hear the same piece of music on CD and part of the magic is gone...crossing fingers here.

I'll check out with Universal here if there's any plans to release MOTS,on their website Mike's name is listed there, they show off L+S,but there's no brazilian release of it...hope that things changes this time.
