Hi all,

I'm new to these forums as you can see from my post count :p so a happy hi and hello to you all out there *embraces you if you want or not* *disgusted you push this noob away* :D

I hope my thred fits here, if else please move it and sorry!

SO many Tubular Bells (I) versions, it's confusing! I got these CDs from Tubular Bells apart from excerpts and so on on compilations:

1. The unremastered first CD
2. The remastered CD in gold which came in a book sleeve (and was awfully packed in carton - ugh  :/ )
3. The Boxed version
4. CD1 of deluxe edition (2009 remaster)
5. CD2 of deluxe edition (1974 version)
(2 is the HDCD remaster i think)

While I like version 4, 5 and 2 seem to be closest to the original. Can you please tell me if 2 and 5 are similar? And no, I can't hear difference.

Is it worth getting the 2003 remaster ?

Thank you all for your answer.

The 2003 version is not a remaster - it's a re-recording! That one you will definitely hear difference :) In my opinion it is absolutly worth getting.

About the TB remaster, now is the one on Disc 2 of the TB1 deluxe edition the same as the HDCD (2000 remaster) version? Does anyone know?

the HDCD  is the original version but would be of poorer quality since it hasn't been sourced from the original (hear 1st generation) master tapes as they were lost at the time of rerelease

so it's the same except that the deluxe edition would have the better sound

edit : tubular bells 2003 have a totally digital sound,as if it was produced by the black eye peas,enjoy...
