I agree with Booster.  Try using some more interesting fonts, those ones are quite plain.  The images are good, though. :D

I don't mind the fonts, I've always been a fan of simple texts myself, but the gradient effects on the first and third ones look very cheap. They'd actually look better with just plain white text, methinks.

Also, the one with two Mikes is a bit silly, the other two are fine. I think I actually prefer the last one.

For the second one, why not shrink one of the Mike's? Sort of a "Mini-Me" effect.

Such talented people.  Any of them are better than many album covers I've seen.

The first image is excellent, and I agree with more work on the text this could well pass as the official album cover. I like the idea of having light and shade on the text, works very well.

The second image unfortunately looks like two siamese twins that have just broken free from each other, but I guess an interesting idea nontheless. Not sure I like Mike's new look, it does seem a tad manufactured, not natural (see Amarok)

third idea pretty good but does remind me of the Alien somehow....

I look forward to reading your impressions of the new album when it is finally released, but am obviously far more interested in actually hearing it.....

Personally, (although Mike's synth work is stunningly beautiful)I hope that when Mike has got bored of tinkering  with his synth presets and virtual software, that we get another  chance to hear what he can do with fake fireworks,
toothbrush, toy dog and some long thin metallic hanging tubes.......

Bring it on.....

The third picture is brilliant but the first one best suits the album cover, the second one scares me a little bit, did you say the third one reminds you of an Alien?! not the second?! just joking!

I guess it depends on which image we are calling the first second and third. I am counting the third image as the last one as you scroll down and it looks similar to the tenacles / arms on the alien in the "Alien" films (signorney weaver).

I don't know about you, but I actually prefer not to hear snippets of Mike's new albums prior to the release, and also I like to see the album cover for the first time when I go out to buy it. Kind of adds to the whole experience somehow.

I nearly walked straight passed the Heavens Open album when that was released. Didn't look like an Oldfield cover at all and using the name Michael Oldfield also threw me slightly.

Album covers for Discovery and Crises will take some beating in my view.

I love the top image. Really beautiful, and I think it sums up the idea of Light and Shade quite nicely. The bottom one has more than a bit of Alien, organic imagery.

1st pic looks great but IMO too similar to previous album covers.
2nd is just plain and Mike's scary image will potentially put off buyers  ;)
3rd is my favourite, like a few have commented it looks like it came from a sci-fi movie!

Good work  :)
