To celebrate Hergest Ridge for its 30 years of existence, I suggest all fans should play Hergest Ridge in its entirety at least once today.  :)

Sure thing!

I didn't know it, btw. I listened to the album yesterday, but I'm playing it again, anyway.

I recorded a rough demo of a bit of Hergest Ridge two days ago. I worked out the not so easy chords of the chant section of Part 2, what a great progression it is

Trouble is I won't be able to upload and post it here until October sometime

Right you are, Woodlander. Also I think fans should visit Hergest Ridge at least once - in summer, winter, rain or sun...

Which version do you prefer, Richard? Just wondering. "Mike's preferred" version, or the version with the snare drum and trumpet?

I have Mike's "preferred" version (Boxed).  Just had my first listen in 20 years (taken me a while to replace my LPs with CDs   ).

Must say I enjoyed it quite a bit.  I had forgotten most of it, I found it relaxing, with much tighter structure than some of Mike's other longer pieces.

Interestingly, I felt it has more linkages with Incantations than Ommadawn.

Yep I agree, I'd visit The Ridge more often if I had the cash to do so, as petrol is so pricey these days :/  :O .

I'm going slightly mad,
It finally happened, I'm slightly mad , just very slightly mad

If you feel a little glum to Hergest Ridge you should come.

Let's not forget that the original has Mike playing a nutcracker. The most difficult instrument to master ever!!!!!You can hear it in the thunderstorm bit.

Ok i can actually see why he chopped it from the remix 'cos it's well out of time.
