There were several Guitars used on Ommadawn.

Yes, there were!

Just like the Ramirez Classic and Flamenco or the Martins (D-35 and D28-12) or the Zemaitis acoustic (now belonging to the Hard Rock Café).

:D  :D  :D

Could be.........

Bass - ically, yes.

And if you can play the intro to Platinum - you are welcome to come and play it on this guitar.

I've got the bouzouki!
It was used a lot on Amarok..
I recently gave it a full service (fret dress and setup)
And it has gone into service in a folk band that I have recently joined.. I feel that in most cases the best way to keep an instrument alive is to play it..
And I agree about the Sg, the sound of that thing made me learn to play!
Mikes first (stolen) one was a 66...
Who should I post pics to the bouzouki to so it can be put in the list?
emac. (who is in Australia)

You can just send the pictures to contact@tubular.net and one of us will put them up, emac...that'll be great!

And Ray...if you want to hear the intro to Platinum played on that guitar, why not ask one of us to teach you? ;) Perhaps we can work out an opportunity for things like that...would there be any interest out there for some 'play like Mike' workshops?

On the subject of the Telecaster, I last saw it hanging in Chandler Guitars a while after the last of the attempted auctions. I now have the world's most expensive ask chopping board in my kitchen. The varnish keeps the tomato juice from getting into the grain and the fact that they had the foresight to fit a nice maple handle to it makes it so easy to stop it from running away with the onions.

OK. So was the SG that Yannick owns used on Hergest Ridge as well?

Am I going to get a chance to get my hands on ANY of these guitars?

Duck ;-)

Not Yannick, but Mr Y   ;)

Yes, of course. If you come in the South of Switzerland, you can play it. Ray did it one year ago and he loved it...

That, my freind, is a date!

Just to be around that guitar and to get a pic of me holding it would make me happy.

Do I sound like a fanatic now?!

Tubular.net - Instruments

Look on the right for

SG Les Paul Junior cherry 1962 #77138

;)

Gotcha. Thanks for that.

Blimey. How much do you have to pay to get hold of the "Ommadawn" SG?

It's really wierd. This is the guitar that made the sounds that have been with me all my life (Ommadawn, Rebirth section, end of side one). I guess everybody could say the same...

im sorry but when has Yannicks sg been proven to be the 'ommadawn' sg?

i own the other sg with an accompanying certificate of authenticity stating that it was used on ommadawn. Also Yannick claims that his is the main guitar used on the montreaux dvd. 2 sg's can be seen on the montreaux dvd, one with metal machineheads which spends the whole concert sitting on its stand, and another with original white plastic machineheads used by Mike for the entire performance. The machineheads on my sg are the original white plastic (yellow with age) and have never been changed, and it looks to me like yannicks sg has replacement machineheads. If you look at the photos you can see holes where other screws have been, and the machineheads currently on the guitar dont look old enough to be original.

Unless someone can prove that the yannicks sg is the one used on ommadawn i suggest that claim should be removed from the instrument section.
