I think it's a bass guitar, played with a pick and possible muted notes (don't know if that's the correct english term, but you know what I mean). I also think it's double tracked with an electric guitar (or possibly a second bass guitar) an octave above the original bassline. Anyway it's a great sound. I don't know much about treble and tempo; I just want to say.... this part is so awesome!!! Approximately 8:10 through til the end is, IMO, possibly the greatest piece of music Mike has done. And this is coming from a diehard Ommadawn devotee. Thankfully, "Incantations Part 4" has that somewhat tedious first eight minutes, so I can still claim "Ommadawn Part 1" as the greatest track ever.
