so you are waiting him to get to australia, i think it's going to be a long wait because the last time he has been (for example) in Finland 20 years ago. i was born just few years before, wasn't yet a fan. but like you i will not lose my hope to get him here and see him live on stage.

sam the fan of the man

Mike Oldfield = MO
Midnight Oil = MO

Isn't that a little funny, especially for Aussies? smile

Yes, I AM a MO fan. Both of them! wink

I am another Aussie whoo would love to see Mike tour here.
In Perth, I often find Mike's albums in the New-Age/Instrumental Sections. There is one store, Wesley's in Perth, that has heaps of his work.

Also, if your in Perth, find the JD's (or JB's, I forgot which) CD superstore. I recently picked up four MO CD's that I had never seen anywhere before. Very nice that!!

Visit my web page at www.global.net.au/~holmangp

JB's ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!! The Exposed HDCD was only $19 despite being a double album, plus most of the albums that are generally hard to get are there as well. They even have Amarok! I even someone TB3 as a christmas present last year since it was about $17 - well within my budget.

I picked up Hergest Ridge, Islands, Discovery and Heaven's Open from there, and I even saw Boxed! Now I just need Exposed, Killing FIelds and Crises to complete the CD collection.

I need mike to tour here, we just have to convince him that there are enough fans here. How many are there? Im not awake enough to count!

In my experience, I've found some MO albums in most of the CD stores I've been in. These are only the common enes, such as Tubular Bells and Best of Elements. JB's Superstore has the most. Being a MO fan here is hard, as he's probably won't tour here for a while (even less likely in Western Australia). Has he ever toured Australia? Did he stop at Perth? How did he like it if he did?

Add me to the list I am in Sydney and I spent a lot of time at the end of 1999 writing to the airheads that manage Mike’s professional schedule. I've got to say it was like beating my head up against a brick wall.

I think chriscotton's idea (Hi, Chris remember me, J?) of having a concert at Woomera would be exceptional, I'd make the trip and I'd come and pick everyone up if it was the only way to get Mikey out here.

Another option that I floated with Mikes management (that was as buoyant as a large gold brick) was to use the area in front of the Opera House like Crowded House's farewell concert, although I am not sure if this would make him enough money. Really though hundreds of artists come out here each year from the US and the UK and play at tiny places like the Basement in Sydney (seats about 50 tops) and they seem to make enough money to cover their costs.

Mike can't be doing it too tough financially or he wouldn't be wasting his time on this VR rubbish (leave it to the professionals Mike) All he needs to do is hook up with another well-known contemporary artist with musical talent and release a song with them. Cher and Brian Adams have recently assisted Chicane in raising his profile etc. Then they can then split the touring costs if necessary.

It also seems that Nova 96.9 in Sydney live on recycled remixed 60’s and 70’s music which unless you are older than 25 ish you think it’s new and very fashionable. Moonlight Shadow remix anyone….

Hi Everyone, well I am bringing this topic back to the front page and lets see if we can get this going again. There is no way Mike would come to Australia as there isn't a big enough fan base, but at least us Aussie Fans can get together. Who wants to come to my house for an MO session? Can anyone play the gutair and entertain us? I live at Belair in the Adelaide Hills and my phone number is 8178 0630. CALL ME!
Ciao
Tracy

Crikey-To right mate
Chuck a shrimp (Not CR :D) on the Barbie.
Whack on some MO on the wireless.
Crack a Tinnie.
Grab the Didj.
Sit outside under the Southern Cross.
And later watch the Telly and see us,
Beat the Poms at the Cricket.
Bonza!

We are not really like that, accept in W.A  :D
