Hey Trench, I'm gonna answer to something we spoke about earlier in the week, on the subject of the old STRAT.
I've got one here, that I built a year or two ago.
The body is a year 2000 custom edition. A factory copy of a 1950's model, with, fat 50 pick-ups. Unfortunately the neck was broken upon arrival, and, was shipped out of it's landing place with a replacement second hand 1990's neck.
Since then and realising the weight of the body, and quality, I sourced a custom made Blood Maple neck from a reputable dealer. Also fitted with kluson machine heads. The blood maple neck, including the fretboard, which is also 1950's dimensions .................gives the guitar a true 1950's feel.
It's nearly as heavy as a Les Paul.
Well of course that left me with a neck, what do you do ?
I found a body, in England up north. I found a place in USA that could supply everything else genuine Fender. Off we go.
I sourced a 1980's scratch board with pick-ups and pots etc in California, from the 1980's, but with a Seymour Duncan L'ttle' Screamer on the bridge end.
Built it when I got back from Canada. I now use both but the second one is sunburst and the first all black. The second one is the one I plug in first everytime.
Explain that........ Ramblings of an old man according to ML
