I like Amarok in its entirety, but there are times I'd like to jump to various points (eg. when driving to work).

So far, I'd place them at:

- (0:00) The beginning (duh)
- (6:22) Past Climax I

..... ?

- (18:01) Finished brushing

..... ?

- (29:27) Intro Reprise 2
..... ?

- (44:46) Africa I
- (51:00) Africa II
- (54:23) Sometimes, one needs to skip the Iron Lady
- (55:50) For times when I don't mind the PM's dancing
- (57:57) Africa III climax

Have any of you inserted your own track points?

A track listing for Amarok has in fact been made. It's on this site in the FAQ. I believe this link will take you right to it.

When (if) you´re hurdling towards a 40 ton truck with a car going 100 mph you should play the section asking : ...happy?...happy?...happy?

After the explosion I bet you´ll find the answer on this one  :D    :p

I've seen that list, but I would get carpal tunnel if I had to skip through all of that....

I was talking about personally selected tracks.

Off the top of my head, I know I'd want a cue to the laugh just before the first climax. Also ones for the sitar-sounding section and for "so fa so". If I were to make a thorough study, I'm sure I could add another four or five, at least.

I know the first time I bought a mini-disc recorder about 12-14 years ago now. I recorded a disc of Amarok with a number of divides and access points in it just for my own amusement more than anything else really.I don`t think I went quite as far as the list in the faq there but it certainly ran well into double figures that I can remember.

Actually, come to think of it I do forward to favourite moments on  Amorak.  Wish it had tracks like TSODE does, would make it easier. I always think I'm ruining a cd when I fast forward.

My family want the 'Hello everybody, 'I suppose you think nothing much is happening around here hah haa haa...'

I usually play the whole of it through in the car and we have to wait (without fast forwarding). Gets a LOL, but in actual fact the whole of Amorak keeps us engrossed.

I split my copy using Audacity. Below is the labels.txt for my choice of splits; the numbers are in seconds. (If you're going to split your copy, save the following as a text file, import it as a Label track in Audacity and use the Export Multiple function.)

Code Sample
000.000000 000.000000 Fast Riff Intro
153.186667 153.186667 Intro; Climax 1
384.413333 384.413333 Soft Bodhran 1; Rachmaninov 1; Soft Bodhran 2; Rachmaninov 2
515.626667 515.626667 Roses
623.746667 623.746667 Intro Reprise 1
673.040000 673.040000 Scot
796.680000 796.680000 Diddlybom; Mad Bit
957.080000 957.080000 Russian; Hoover
1081.960000 1081.960000 Fast Riff
1197.693333 1197.693333 Lion
1317.640000 1317.640000 Fast Waltz 1; Stop; Mad Bit 2; Fast Waltz 2; Mandolin
1568.040000 1568.040000 Intermission; Boat
1768.026667 1768.026667 Intro Reprise 2
1926.666667 1926.666667 Big Roses
1994.000000 1994.000000 Green Green
2065.186667 2065.186667 Slow Waltz
2164.653333 2164.653333 Lion Reprise; Mandolin Reprise 1, 2, 3
2326.653333 2326.653333 TV-AM
2390.640000 2390.640000 Fast Riff Reprise
2463.933333 2463.933333 Hoover, Scot
2542.893333 2542.893333 Boat Reprise; Intro Waltz; Green Reprise
2687.533333 2687.533333 Africa 1
3061.746667 3061.746667 Africa 2
3263.920000 3263.920000 Africa 3

The numbers are the times in seconds, and are aligned to CDDA frame boundaries for seamless playback. Curiously, a lot of the more prominent transitions in the music are already aligned at 75fps boundaries...

I'm not familiar with Audacity, but I like your tracklist, ettlz. It looks to me like you've got the important points covered. Well done.

If I don't have time to listen to the whole album (on the bus for example), I always skip to the same bits; the chuckle before the first climax, the brushing and smash before the second 'fast riff' bit, the very fast guitar part in the 'Fast waltz', the intermission part and the three africa finales. I also really love the bit where the climactic guitar drops of at about 44:00, it just seems so cheeky.
