This kind of sparked my curiosity after some discussion about the length of Incantations vs. the lengths of other albums, as well as how some people thought that TMB was too short. well, here are the order of albums from the longest to the shortest. i did not include compilations (such as Boxed, Exposed, XXV, and TBTB).

73:11 Incantations
60:02 Amarok
59:56 The Songs of Distant Earth:
58:42 Tubular Bells 2
58:31 Voyager
58:21 Tres Lunas (UPDATED!)
51:06 Orchestral Tubular Bells
50:03 Five Miles Out
48:51 Tubular Bells
48:05 Islands
46:40 Tubular Bells 3
45:05 The Millennium Bell
43:48 Heaven's Open
42:48 Guitars
41:25 Earth Moving
41:16 Discovery
40:51 Hergest Ridge
39:56 QE2
38:23 The Killing Fields
38:21 Platinum
37:55 Crises
36:51 Ommadawn

Average Length: 48:45 (apprx.)

Some of the albums i don't have, so i just added up the times, but most of them i was able to actually look at the total time on the CD-Player. Interestingly, whenever i put TSODE into my CD player, it reads as a solid 70:00 minutes, but that's because the CD track somehow messes up the time reader.

If anyone has the different times for these let me know so we can be as accurate as possible!

The music is an hour long - the two seconds are of silence, or something pretty close to it (I forget exactly).

There was a debate on Amarok about this a while ago - I think they decided that Amarok was 60.04 after various people tried it in various CD players had got different results.

well, besides Amarok, do the other times sound about right? i still think the average length of 48 minutes for an album is pretty respectable.

MY Incantations say 69:43 (or something close to that) for the time. Is this a different version?

I think that early CD versions of Incantations were cut so that it fit on the new format (it was a double album in LP format I think) and that newer CDs (such as the remaster) have the whole lot. I think the most obvious bit to cut then would be the fanfare bit at the start of Part Three. If someone could tell me if I'm on the right track it would be appreciated.

Booh, I'm missing out on a bit!
No, I don't have the remaster.
It's strange how Songs of Distant Earth says 70.00 on my CD player as well. Wierd.
