@ Caveman: IMHO it isn't a proof of anything, as the ad and the album cover may have obviously been shot at different times. :D However, un-bearded Mike looks quite beautiful... and young. :)

By the way, I've never heard of a 'cut and paiste' job. Paiste is a brand of cymbals for drummers.

Excellent find. I don't remember seeing this before, however it has a similar feeling to the Impressions album advert. Can someone find that one? Haven't seen it for many years.

Does the speakervoice call Incantations "An erotic symphony?" WTF?

Oh, and that video proves nothing. We've all seen on-sites footage from the cover shoot for Pink Floyd's Animals. There was an actual inflatable pig up there, but they ended up using a montage.
Wasn't there a socket in the wall in a photo somewhere? I think it was a newspaper ad for the album

Now this is the kind of discussion I like!

I think the montage was made using actual pictures of the pig over the station -- they didn't put him there "artificially".

But really, the amazing thing is that the pig broke off the wires, flew up beyond all attempts of contact by aircraft, landed on a farm and was flown back to London to resume shooting. Amazing stuff!

The best of that story is that it was the one day they didn't have a marksman there. All the other times they tried to get the shot for thwe cover there was a trained markman on stand by with a long range sniper rifle to shoot it down in case it broke loose of it's moorings.Must have been a hell of a wind to snap steel hausings though.

@ Yanouch: thanks for the video, it's nice. However, the ad is just all there was in the YouTube link that was originally posted up here. :)

@ Sir M. & Caveman, re. the pig on the PF cover: it was actually photographed on location, on the third day's shoot. They fetched the pig from the farm, mended it, put it up there again and shot it (with a photo camera, not with a rifle! :D). But unfortunately on that third day the sky was blue, so they stripped the pig from the third day's shoot and pasted it into the dramatically overcast sky from the first day. This is how Storm Thorgerson told the story.

I knew that already.Must have been a bit scary for anyone flying abpve Battersea that day.It went up so fast that the police helicopters couldn't keep up with it.Sod's law that the marksman wasn't there that day though.Bloody unlucky.
Good cover but not my favourite Floyd album by a long way,but that's another thread entirely.
