Hi

I'm interested in having a copy on CD of Airborne. I know Martin Bartosik also mastered this album but I can't find this in any place. Do you know if this can be found somewhere on the net. Maybe someone has a copy of this CD and can record a copy for me... or maybe someone knows how to contact Martin (for bring me e-mail adresses and similar, please, send me an e-mail or a PM, don't post such things on the forum ;)). Also, does anybody know if this remastered version includes both records?

Thanks in advance

I'm also looking for it for a long time (the Bartosik remaster).
If someone have it, please share it on eMule. (and don't forget to put the link in the eMule Links topic ;) )

Thanks.

I didn't know Airborne had ever come out on CD.  Maybe what you have is a "fan project" CD?

Can we distribute Airborne amongst ourselves?  I'd like to hear it!

Airborne hadn't been realized in CD so you got a fan rip of the vinyl album, maybe Martin's remaster, who knows. There's any chance you could rip this and share it with us?

Here's some information about the Airborne CD I have.

I'm sure it's a fan project.  It's a CDR with printed cover the artwork is nice on both front and back. It looks like a scan of the album as far as I can tell.   The edge reads Mike Oldfield - Airborne    CDVA 13143

The Tracks on my Airborne CD are as follows:

18:14 Track 1 - Platinum 1-4
03:54 Track 2 - Guilty
03:42 Track 3 - Into Wonderland
05:49 Track 4 - Punkadiddle
04:43 Track 5 - I Got Rhythm
24:22 Track 6 - Tubular Bells (Part 1) Live April 1979
19:50 Track 7 - Incantations (Studio & Live Edit)
---------------
80:34 Total Time

As far as quality goes,  I personally think it's very good.  If it was taken from Vinyl,  I can't tell... I've listened carefully for typical Vinyl noise,  and can't find any.. even in very quiet parts.

An odd thing about this CD is... it's slightly larger than a blank CD,  I beleive it was burned with something with overburn capability,  (I think I used to have something that could do that,  but my current software doesn't.)  It seems my blank CDs are 703MB but this Airborne one is 709MB.  I may see if I can make a copy of it (for backup purposes of course.. I would hate to lose this CD!;)

Yes, you have the fan-made remaster by Martin Bartosik...

A screenshot of his dead web site (from my archives) :

and a link for the site partially archived by Wayback Machine:

I think the best thing to do is to share it on eMule or a FTP ;) ...

Yes, thats the Airborne CD I have.    Unfortunatly,  at the moment I'm on Dial up, using my home phone line,  so I can't stay on-line constantly.  I'm not opposed to making copies if I can figure it out.   I've made a few attempts with some software that tries to overburn the CD,  but I guess the blank CD's have to also be capable of holding the data.

Hello there!

That was some very interesting posts to read. I really hope that we can get a copy "online". Maybe someone can help you to get it on "e-mule" or something as I have seen others doing here at tubularboard before.

Here is a nice little link for some more info on "AIRBORN"
AIRBORN at www.amadian.net

Thank you!

Hello!

I have finally finished my download of Airborn on e-mule. I burnt it yesterday and listened to it this morning. It sound fine but there are still vinylnoises present. I don't mind that too much, it is nice to be "reminded" that this is from a vinyl source...
One thing that struck me is that about 15 minutes into "Incantations" it changes to a part from the live version of "Tubular Bells" and ends with Sailors Hornpipe? Wonder why?

I am also wondering if there is a "cleaner" transfer out there? I have read so much about the Martin Bartosik transfer and that it is supposed to without vinylnoise?

Take care!

Hi

Very old topic  :) . A member of the Amarok mailing list has shared this album on that list (thanks Gustavo) and I'm glad to upload it to eMule and share it with all of you. Feel free to post the elink in some other forums and mailing lists  :/

Looking at the artwork included, I would say this is the Bartosik version. It is in FLAC and it sounds very good. You can get it using the following elink

Enjoy and keep sharing.
