I know that we have the system of abbreviations for referring to Mike's albums, as follows (in order):

Mike Oldfield (MO):
TB HR OTB O (B) Inc Ex P QE2 FMO Cr D TKF CMO Is EM A HO TB2 El [T]SODE V XXV TB3 G TMB
(I think - anything wrong - please tell me)

So why not extend this to other artists.
Example: Jean-Michel Jarre (JMJ):
O E CM CEC MAZUR MPS Ess Z E85 RV HL R Live EAC I C HK O2 OTO2 EN M
(Most are guessable if you have a list, the ones that might catch you out - E85: Essential JMJ (1985 vs. original), EAC: Waiting For Cousteau/En attendant Cousteau, O2: Oxygene 7-13)

I'm sure they're being used in jarre-related forums/newsgroups/mailinglists, if there are any. A lot of people around here would probably not understand the abbreviations. Me, for example. I find Jarres music quite dull and boring, I only have the Images - best of cd.

Well, I'm also a big fan of Midnight Oil and member of a mailing list, where MO is often used as an abbreviation for the band name...

So I have to distinguish between MO = Midnight Oil and MO = Mike Oldfield.
Am I having a hard time?... tongue

...Completely off topic... smile

I like both Eric Clapton and Elvis Costello. They are, of course, both abbreviated as EC in their (respective) best fan sites. smile biggrin

Following on from what Hillbilly and Ugo both said, it's interesting to find non-Mike tracks that fit the Oldfield-abbreviations.

For example:

SOTW- (Shadow on the Wall, Smoke on the Water...)

SOS- (Source of Secrets (strictly TSOS, but I'm slack wink), Sultans of Swing...)

EN? It's been so long since I wrote this ...

After OTO2 and before M ... The only thing I can think of here is the reworking of Quatrième Rendez-vous (Rendez-vous 98). Ah!

Electronic Night (live album - not heard it myself), contains the 1998 World Cup reworking of RV4, and a few other things.
