OK then. Mike's going to do a concert and you're going to see it. What tracks do you really want to hear Mike perform live? And which ones you don't want?

Personally, I'd like to hear:

  • Ommadawn Part One Finale
  • Five Miles Out
  • Moonlight Shadow
  • Heaven's Open
  • Far Above the Clouds
  • Top of the Morning

Please, don't everyone say Amarok. I think everyone knows that everyone wants to hear it live already.

Portsmouth (don't laugh - the AIH version sounded great)
Conflict (the live recordings of this totally rock!!!!)
Celt
Polka (from Elements 4CD)
Crises (the whole friggin' thing!!!!!) smile
Shadow on the Wall
Celtic Rain
The Voyager
Muse
Summit Day

...and everything you said Tim.

note: this isn't a list of every single one of my all-time favourites, just the ones I'd love to hear live (with me attending obviously).

I won't list ones I don't want to hear - don't think anyone else should either - as this can offend individual tastes and cause those petty cyberfights.

I will say this though. I wouldn't mind if a different female singer was used. Personally, I think Pepsi uses too much vibrato and often goes out of tune (esp. Family Man).

Oh, I forgot:

Platinum.

Sounds great live on the Complete, I'd like to see and hear it live in person.

Oh yeah. B-sides.

It would be excellent to hear "The Trap" played live. This piece is incredibly eerie and exciting. I don't think it's ever been done live.

..and how could I forget........
DON ALFONSO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! smile
I don't think it's ever been done live either, even though it was an A-side.

YES! Ok, first off, The concert would be held in Chicago, USA. Not only is it close to me, but i figure a place in the middle of the states would be convienent for others too. So instead of flying from coast to coast, it's only half the distance.

Although i think an outdoor concert would be best, an indoor one would be good if the accoustics were right.

Songwise:

Secrets & Far Above the Clouds (especially aweomse outdoors)
Top of the Morning would be good indoors
Dark Star or Outcast (indoor or outside)
Portsmouth! (I agree Rosko, the AIH version was awesome!)
The Doges Palace
Liberation
Let there be Light
Tubular World
Tubular Bells (ending portion of part 1)

Probably the best music would be some of the "louder" ones he's done. Stuff that is poweful, huge, and is meant to be loud.

I would perhaps mostly enjoy the guitar solo on Incantations Part three, than Pornhipe of course, Portsmouth, Summit Day (-->Yes, I did already!!).
Well I would like the ones, which could contain a lot guitar improvistaion. Some minimalistic background, some chords and than e-guitar...
The "Exposed TB Part two" ending would be such a great event to see live.

Here are some that I think would be good when played live:

Ommadawn Part One flute solo;
One of: Outcast, Shadow on the Wall, or Sunjammer;
Top of the morning;
One of the Tubular Bells MC bits (preferably the original);
Far Above The Clouds

And possibly others, too.

Oh, and Dervish_D - you said the "P" word wink ... I agree, though: the hornpipe would be a good addition to a live concert.

This might be off-topic, but:
I'd like a concert in which everything is played LIVE. I mean: NO drumloops, NO sampled voices, NO metronome... (Those are IMO all fine for an album. But imagine someone stepping up to the mike and babbling "HAP-HAP-HAPPY"...)

All the amazing endings, such as Ommadawn part one, Far Above the Clouds etc. I would love to hear Sentinel, Dark Star and Clear Light played live, as well as Crystal Clear from TSODE. My absolute concert would be the five disk best of that I am still adding to.
