For those slow days And inspired by Jims Battle Damage/Almost home about lack of chit chat post i thought a non specific topic post might work ! A place for a bit of piffle, light talk and banter If you had a great day pass it on If you heard a new joke or had a funny insight let us know Did your child say something that cracked you up Did you think Avatar was just Dances with Wolves in space Just watched Star Trek 3 for the 88th time and need to tell someone ect. Its great to discuss Mike all day , I do But a certain colourfull group that can't be named has been more discussed recently and even though it was mildly funny for some i pi**ed myself. And it seemed it was pulling some threads of topic (Oh the shame) Hey Jim what the heck is "SPIRACHA" So some piffle I had a thought the other day about taste in music Conclusion was we are either Family or Peers Family being that your taste was from the music you grew up with either mum/dad or an older sibling that shaped your musical world or Peers meaning you discovered it your self or through early or teen asociations (one for you rebellious types ) Any Thoughts???? I wanted it to be quite close to my workplace, but I think that won't be possible; but even finding a place that's a BIT far away is turning out problematic as well. The Caveman Group: Members Posts: 2178 Joined: Jan. 2008 Posted: April 09 2010, 08:54 Hmm family or peers?Cool idea.Probably a bit of both i guess.Oldfield was from Dad in as far as the first few albums and then i went off at the deep end on his music to the point that i got my dad back into him by giving him cds when the re-issues came out and then lending him stuff to copy.  A lot of the other stuff i love i  found on my own or through friends going "here listen to this" such as my love of English folk or Led Zep etc. Stupid muso jokes for the day... The Caveman Group: Members Posts: 2178 Joined: Jan. 2008 Posted: April 13 2010, 07:26 I'll be nipping down to Salisbury for a few days in August for my holidays.Don't know why i love going back there,aside from the fact that it's my birthplace,but it's such a beautiful little city and the surounding area is so nice to go walking in.Full of history too.Just me,my iPod,perfect solitude and something nice herbally speaking.Heaven. Douglas Adams had a great theory in Hitchhikers regarding people returning to their birthplace.He says that people are connected to it by something like invisible elastic.I can relate to that as every now and then i feel the need to go back.Left in 1979 when i was 4 but it seems to welcome me home everytime and for a committed non-christian (i have nothing specific against Chrisitanity i hasten to add,it's just that i am pagan)like me i find the Cathedral a really welcoming warm place. I'd recommend it to everyone who thinks cities are big places.Salisbury is tiny!And since most of the buildings are listed and space is really tight in the city centre the tallest building is the Cathedral which at 396 feet is not only the tallest medieval spire in Britain,it also makes it damn near imposible to get lost!Look up and there he is! -------------- THE COMING OF THE GREAT WHITE HANDKERCHEIF IS NIGH.
