the 1st one -according to the tracklength- seems to be taken from "The Fairlyight Mixes (Viareggio 1984).

@ the 2nd I'm not sure about its source, as they don't fit any tracklength of "Etude"-versions I've heard so far...
could be edited versions, though....

I wouldn't pay more than 1 € for those.
;)

Later,

dkay

Amazing, unique recording of Mike Oldfield playing a 'funny Spanish tune' called Cavatina. Never heard of it before?  It is the original unpublished 'classical' version of the track that eventually became 'Etude'.

Good to know that the seller is well informed...

Cavatina is a tune by Stanley Myers, most famously arranged for classical guitar by John Williams and used in the soundtrack to the film The Deerhunter.
The tune which became Étude is 'Recuerdos de la Alhambra' by Francisco Tárrega - Mike played it on some of his 80s tours (I believe the 1984 one), but without hearing the recording being sold, I couldn't say if that's where the recording has come from.

Is there any link between 'Cavatina' and 'Recuerdos de la Alhambra' ?

They're both famous classical guitar pieces...I can't think of much else they have in common.

Mike played Etude mixed with an early version of In High Places (Mike said it was A Song About Leprechauns) at some few concerts of the 82 Tour (Göteborg is the one I have).

I got these off eBay. They are instrumental In High Places, & Cavatina is actually Etude (3 versions). Sounds like they are early studio demos. Quality is stunning!!  :O

Could you give us some excerpts to let us discuss a little bit were they might come from?
