My copy arrived yesterday and I sat down with a bottle of wine last night and had a marathon viewing of all four hours of it. Its really interesting, some fantastic anecdotes. I could sit and listen to Tom Newman reminisce for hours. He's such a good raconteur. If you liked the 2013 Plus Tubular Bells BBC documentary then this is a great companion DVD to watch. Its quite loosely edited. There's a few bits where peoples memories don't quite match up and they even contradict each other. Maybe thats something to be expected though considering events were so long ago.   I think my favourite story is that Tom Newman painted the red and black 'spacescape' painting sitting behind Ringo Star's drums in the last ever Beatles live performance. There's loads of other good stories too like Steve Hillage dropping a tab of acid before performing with Mike because it helped him focus his mind on memorising all the complex guitar parts. There's some pretty candid memories including Simon Draper talking about his relationship with Mike over subsequent years. Enjoyed Les penning and Rob Reed's part, as well as the guy from tubular bells for 2. Only let down by a strange choice for master of ceremonies, his voice doesn't really fit. Never surpass Mike's version, but a nice listen. Just need 4 hours to watch DVD's. Back to top

Thought his voice sounded a bit over the top, similar to John Cleese in the 2003 rerecording. The original worked so well because Viv Stanshall was subtle I think. The DVD's have got chapters in them so you don't have to watch it all in one go. Back to top
