:D just kidding :)

though as I not think it's as good as Ommadawn...I wanted to share what I recorded last night.

It's the In The Pool single...

http://www.rebirth.nd4spdworld.com/stuff/InThePool.mp3

This time I mostly tried to produce it technically good so I used lot of equalizer and compressors ....

let me say that I hope there won't be any bad feedback now about the technical things :)

Comments very appreciated : o )

Well done, I'd say. I don't know why you say you've punkaddidled it (maybe because the stressed drums?), it's more like a computerised version. There's less atmosphere than in the original, but it still works.
The stress on the second note of the guitar theme (at 00:13 and 00:36) made me look angry at my boxes though. Yes, like this:  :(   Bit overstressed, aren't they.

The overall volume of the guitar is quite loud. That's no bad thing on itself, but when the guitar doesn't play, the song kinda sinks away. So personally I would make the volume gap between the guitar and the other non-percussion instruments smaller.

Well, Booster, I'm glad I needed again a closer listen to come up with comments. And I had a good time doing it. Congrats.

That acoustic guitar is the most realistic MIDI guitar I've ever heard. Still some glitches, but still it's the most realistic I've ever heard. Overall nice rendition. Very calm. Drums are also good. Good job. I like it better than Ommadawn :).

Well MIDI or not, it's not a real guitar is what I'm saying. You can tell that. But it's the most realistic one I've heard.

An OT question, how do you all manage to put out so many cover tracks in such a short time? I mean these are Mike Oldfield pieces which are done with an incredible amount of care & time put into them originally. Not criticising anybody, in fact I've heard none of the covers because I just can't download them sensibly with my 56k modem and the very very little hard disc space I`ve got to spare, so I can't judge the quality of them. But I've been thinking about doing a rendition of Charleston on the flute for some while now and so far I've only learned the main tune but haven't got around to doing anything else about it. Just too much other stuff to do, and the challenge is so big to do it properly (anything else won't do for me). Wonder how you do it?

Nicely done. The guitar sample is indeed good, though it does give away its sampled nature...

I would have made more of a feature of the bassline myself, though - the bass was quite a big feature of Mike's track, for me, but perhaps you were aiming for a more empty sound.

It sounds a little bit on the over-squashed side, but maybe it sounded like that before you put it through any compressors. I think I'd probably pull down the guitar in level a bit then run it through a fairly gentle compression, but also work on getting a higher overall level.
Don't give up, though - you've done really well :)
