I was looking through my collection last week and found this

Reminded me of NS.

I really love this album from it's Party atmospheric start through it's industrial middle .
Then it's trip through the ocean for 44 or so mins.

Very tranquil ending ...A great Album to put on Whilst reading, dining or bonking.

What's your'e favourite at the moment?

Ha ha, Milamber.  :p

In my opinion, you should give that to Mr O for use as a frisbee.

I'm currently listening to Kono Ni Itakoto by the wondrous AKB48 (with limited edition photobook and DVD, natch).

"At the moment", you say? This is a bit hard, because there is a very limited amount of music released in 2011 that I actually like. I tend to like old stuff more. And this is why I'm currently liking these ones a lot, which have arrived a few days ago in my (physical) mailbox from the UK.

Two unjustly underrated albums, IMHO, especially the II.

@ Milamber: sorry, I don't share your opinion on Waiting for Cousteau at all. To me it's just 3 tracks of very standard, very un-exciting JMJ followed by nearly 47 minutes of pure shit. I always stop the CD before it even starts playing track 4. :D

Did Macca II come with a 1oz bag a weed and a Japaneese get out of jail free card :D

Yes underrated indeed as is Back to the Egg and At the Speed of Sound IMO

We should swap CDs as mine skips on track 4 in such a way you would not notice makes the track never ending

I find most Jarrè too heavy and oppressive maybe that's why I like WFC

@ Milamber: we should definitely swap them. Mine looks barely played at all, because I did barely play it at all. :D Anyway, I love electronic music [heck, I own two fully electronic Aphex Twin CDs that very few Tubularians actually own!], so I don't think JMJ is heavy or oppressive at all. But I also think that he stopped making good music after Rendez-Vous in 1986. Even Chronologie, which was a big hit (at least down here) sounds stupid to me.

Jarre is disco without the stupid lyrics.

I like Incantations a lot (and will be tired of it when they release it, which will ruin my experience (in the event I manage to get it))

Perhaps someone could invent a new genre: intelligent disco. Instead of "Yes Sir, I can Boogie", you could have "Yes Sir, I am Knowledgable About Heidegger"

Ah yes, where would the world be if we didn't have Heidegger? But seriously what has philosophy given us that is actually knowledge we can use? If I have all the answers I wouldn't be a happier man. It's like the song of the band Living Colour: ignorance is bliss.

The trouble is, HR, everyday life forces us into consideration of philosophical issues whether we like it or not. The recent thread about paid health services is one example. Another is the issue of how we should deal with criminals. According to CS Lewis in one of his essays, the rehabilitation view implies criminals are like deterministic machines that just need fixing, whereas the punishment view implies there is free will and we have genuine choices as to what we do. Until science is in a position to settle this and other issues, we have no choice but to enter into philosophical debate, even if it's usually called something else!

Robbie is the local Jarre pusher.

Except for "Chronology" he does not like Jarre's albums being used as a Frisbee     :(
