It's a half-suppressed sneeze.

Is that like the lyric in the middle of "Music from the Balcony" that says "Bat sh*t! Bat sh*t!" ?

Seriously, if you know what it really says, let me know (in the "Heaven's Open" thread if you want). This is what it sounds like to me anyway.

I don't think there are any words in Music From The Balcony at all. In fact, the song is so aggressive and antagonic, I wouldn't be surprised if Mike inserted a bunch of anti-words somewhere inbetween the instruments. I don't think it says anything. Will you stop being so obsessed with swear words? ;) :D

As long as "Platinum" and "Guitars" are on the list of votes, might as well add "The Songs of Distant Earth" and "QE2" along with the other album titles.

I always heard that as "Backflash! Backflash!" but I'm not as sure in that case as I'm in "Platinum". :) (Anyway, it's at 14:22.)

Okay, I'm converted. I've already voted for "Guitar" but I'd like to change my vote to "Platinum." I've downloaded the clip that EeToN posted elsewhere and slowed it down to half speed. Upon doing that, it becomes almost painfully obvious that the voice is indeed saying Platinum.

I always heard that as "Backflash! Backflash!"

Even more than my earlier guess. I think it might even be "Batfish!, Batfish!". A Batfish is a kind of submarine (for real, not like the Alan Parsons Project is a kind of hovercraft). It is also a term used for manta ray, seen on the cover art of TSODE.

I thought it to be "Backflash" also because it fits with the concept of Heaven's Open.

Sounds like 'Pizza' to me.....

But then slowing it down I can't decide between that and 'Guitar'.

After hearing the slowed-down clip, I have little doubt that it's "Platinum". The last two syllabes kind of melt into one thing, so it's hard to make it out in normal speed.

Interesting. I don't have too much trouble hearing three quick syllables, but I only have a digital recording from an LP of it rather than a proper CD release. It could have been some discrepancies in the EQ?

I must have exceptional hearing because it was always obvious to me, I could just never get anyone to agree with me. Thanks guys for taking the trouble to discuss this and vote on it, I hope we can get a few more votes to tip the scales all the way. Thanks again. Tracy.

I've changed my mind.  I think he's saying "fatty bum".

I think it sounds like "put-chik" or "put-shik". I don't know how any of you can make out a word.
