Lacrimosa's music is dark, melodious, ambient and symphonic in what could be described as Darkwave / Doom metal with forays into progressive, even heavy metal.

Thanks Korgscrew for the link to Barbara Buchholtz's website.  Are there any samples to hear on there? I'd like to see if I'd like her music.  I did find certain pages were written in German, not all of them had a translation into English.  I can speak a little German.

T4 Lacrimosa's music sounds interesting, do they have a website?
:) .

Am having a little peace and quiet now, unusual for me  :/ . Earlier I was playing Robert Plant's new album "Mighty Rearranger"  It's F***ing awesome.  :) .  On the instruments played it lists a "Bendia" and also a  "Tehardant", does anyone know what these instruments are please?  :)

The Bendir's a kind of frame drum, like a bodhrán, except it has strings underneath the skin which make a buzzy kind of sound (a bit like a snare drum, I suppose). The tehardant is a basic kind of lute, with three gut strings. Both are mostly found in north Africa. I hope that lessens the mystery somewhat!

Thanks Korgscrew for your answer to my question :) .  Have checked out the music on Barbara Buccholtz's website.  Unsure what to make of it at the mo.  That's why I like this topic , as I've been able to check out some new music, that I might not have otherwise heard.  I say "new" music as some of it is 30+ years old ,but it's new to me.

Thanks dkaycom for the link to the Lacrimosa website, interesting      :).

Currently playing "Mighty Rearranger" the title track from Robert Plant's new album I can't stop playing it :) . For more info check out www.robertplant.com.

Zemfira - Nebomoreoblaka

from her latest album "Vendetta".
-> http://www.zemfira.ru/

very interesting russian alternative-rock I learnt to know about a fanmade mashup of her tunes and Rammstein-stuff some years ago.

Just a quick note of thanks to dkaycom for answering that question. I haven't been on as much as I'd like lately so I appreciate the help  :)

Having explored all of Lacrimosa's back catalogue, I must say that the way they have progressed is most impressive. The albums Stille, Eloidia, Fassade and Echos have seen the band execute symphonic and classical arrangements with aplomb (and an orchestra in some instances too). It is ultimately hard to describe but is worthy of a listen - trust me  ;)

Currently playing Lacrimosa - Echos.

hmmm, well......
if Tilo wouldn't act that arrogant and jump into one cliche after the other, I'd possibly checked out more of 'em in the past.
:)
the "problem" I have may be that I'm native german and so get the lyrics of the tunes very directly..... and that may end in finding 'em boring (not in the way as it is at Rammstein for example, where u indeed have to know the lyrics to 2 of their tunes only to know all), but still.
:)

My fav. Lacrimosa-tune was and is: "Alles Lüge".

I don't think I've ever posted in this thread, so here's my two-pennyworth:

Puccini - highlights from Madama Butterfly.

As I listen to this I wonder why I ever bother listening to anything else. The tunes seem to be the finest tunes I've ever heard, the singing seems so amazing that I don't understand how mere human beings can do it, and the whole takes me to levels of emotional response that no other music ever manages.

Big BellEnd - I hope you read this, because it was your comment somewhere about buying highlights Cds that inspired me to buy this. I used to insist that the only way to listen to opera was to hear all of it. Well, phooey - I did all that years ago, and what did I know?! Bring on the highlights CDs! Bloody marvellous! Less than £4 (including postage) from Caiman USA through Amazon. It feels immoral that art so great should cost so little. Go get one here:

bargain's I love them, puccini, why not but I think there's a few more I've got my eye on.

Just a quickie as having left the house at 0605hrs, I have only just got home at 2230hrs and I'm shattered! But, I just had to say that if you enjoy Karnataka, then you'll love Mostly Autumn too.

Last week I received their latest special edition CD - Storms Over Still Water - and it is a masterpiece; their best yet. Very Floyd!

Find out more by clicking here!
