Well, if you will insist on going to those punk rock concerts, Alan....

Sorry Jules, can you speak up please? (Where's that damned ear trumpet?)

Room to Roam - The Waterboys. This has to be one of...no, if not the greatest feelgood album ever. Short catchy tunes that you can not get out of your head. Oh, and the musicianship on this record is second to none. Fantastic  :D

Alan Parsons Project..Eye in the Sky. This album was released when i was going through a rough time. I find it to be a very uplifting album. Check out the first two tracks...Sirius and Eye In The Sky.

Magenta - Revolutions

Revolutions is the debut release from Magenta, a British band with at least some members having previous been in a band called Cyan. The goal of the music is simple, and stated in the liner notes; to make music that emulates what bands in the past have done but are no longer willing to (a not-so-subtle allusion to Genesis and friends). The music is definitely in the neo-prog vein, with some infusion of analog synthesizers, and the powerful, sometimes multi-tracked vocals of lead singer Christina.

Ugo - thanks! PM on it's way to you now!

Ludwig van Beethoven/Claudio Abbado - Finale (Allegro molto) from Symphony no. 3 "Eroica". Not my fav of good old Ludwig's symphonic stuff, but still one of his best pieces.

Earlier: Jon Lord - "A smile when I shook his hand", from his latest, pseudo-classical CD Beyond the notes. Absolutely wonderful. :)

@ Ratty: congrats for your APP choice. It's one of their two best albums IMHO, in addition to being (always IMHO) one of the best albums of all time. :)

"Vulture Culture" and "Stereotomy" are the two APP albums I can't come to like, no matter how many chances I give them. For me, it is like they stopped trying (and started trying again with "Gaudi")

NP All You Need Is Love - The Beatles.  I don't think the Beatles need any introduction here.

You'll like this T4 , I've just ordered "Music Inspired by Lord of the Rings" by Mostly Autumn :). Given my love of LOTR books too ihad to buy it.
I think this topic is great as it's got me checking out new music too :) .

Good for you Moonchildhippy!!  :) Mostly Autumn are a fantastic group. I'm so pleased that you are able to check out some recommendations from this thread; it makes it so worthwhile posting about them.

Now playing: K2 - Book of the Dead

K2 is the brainchild of Atlantis bassist/songwriter Ken Jaquess. Wanting to explore deep into the world of progressive rock, Ken decided to form a new group, write a conceptual album based on the Egyptian “Book of the Dead”, and get the best musicians around to play with him. K2 (K squared) is truly a band of unparalleled talent. Joining Ken are guitar great Allan Holdsworth, jazz drummer extraordinaire Doug Sanborn, Spocks Beard keyboardist Ryo Okumoto, violinist Yvette Devereaux and the late, great Shaun Guerin on vocals.

Rick Wakeman - The Six Wives Of Henry VIII (1973)
                   - Journey To The Center Of The Earth (1974)

Great choice of music. 'Six Wives' is Wakeman at his best I think. Just him, his vast bank of synths (early 70s keyboard technology at its best) and a few very talented guest musicians culled from his former band The Strawbs and his current band Yes. Not quite so pretentious or over the top as 'Journey' or 'Myths and Legends' - although they are still both cracking albums.

Now playing: Hans Zimmer - Pacific Heights Soundtrack

Part 2, in my opinion, is simply the finest piece of music Zimmer has ever composed. It is the piece that accompanied the end credits to the film and features, amongst other things, some marvelous banjo playing, which adds to the suspense and mystique of the track.
