Mike Oldfield has always been our main musical influence. So to commemorate 40 years since the release of "Five Miles Out", we have recorded a cover version of the album's epic 13 minute instrumental, "Orabidoo". Obviously it's a modern take on the piece, with some minor changes, but we feel it stays true to the spirit and themes of the original. It was definitely a labour of love for us. It's available on all streaming platforms as part of our new album "Handbags". Hope you like it!

Strange it wont show up when you search the channel, you have to specifically search "Nylon Admirals Orabidoo".

Anyway it's very good, I like the extra opera and choir voices and the dance beat running through the first half, and the drum and bass type beat on the 2nd last section and a few bits of funky piano.  Its cool because there a quite a few bands that have done very competent straight ahead note for not covers of some of Oldfield's longform pieces but this one gives it a modern twist and a fresh new life.  Pity that comments are turned off?

Have you covered any of his other songs?

Thankyou for the feedback, we’re glad you enjoyed it! When doing covers and remixes we believe its important to add something new, versus just parroting the original track. For example, we’ve also covered Soundgarden and T-Pain, adding our “cinematic breakbeat” twist. As lifelong Oldfield fans, this cover was a labor of love, and a tribute to a great track by a great musician! But we probably wont cover any more of his work - better to keep exploring new and unfamiliar genresand stretch ourselves.

Ahh...Fair enough.  IF you ever did, then my vote would be for "Embers"/"From the Ashes" (EMbers reprise) from the "Guitars" album.  It's an underappreciated masterpiece of his.

Yeah Guitars is a great album but v underrated. Would love to hear an all orchestral version of the entire album, a la Orchestral Tubular Bells; it has the perfect vibe throughout for that kind of adaptation.
