Anyone had a go on U-MYX yet?

Once you finish your mix(es) you can click the button that looks like a globe on the u-myx player and send it up online where other fans with the u-myx CD can download and listen to it.

There are already a couple up there...

Oh- you'll need to save it first- you can do this by clicking on the disc icon on the player.

Lets hear them people!

There's actually a competition - you can win signed copies of Light + Shade and Tubular Bells, if Mike chooses your mix as the best.

There's potential for a lot of fun with it, too. Definitely worth playing with!

Oh no dammit,  the disc drive is broken on my antique (in computer terms) PC. It's about 10 years old and uprated to a Windows 2000.  So no signed copies of Light+Shade or Tubular Bells for me then :O    :(, WAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

You could probably put the songs on one of those USB memory key rings if you've a. got one, and b. got a friend that could copy the songs from your CD onto your keyring drive.

It could still be yours...

????  :/ .  Thanks for the advice ob1, I'm still a bit lost,  wonder if I could do it from a computer other than my own, My parents have a new PC, I wonder if that would work :) , if I can get to grips with this U-MYX.

Yes you could do it on any computer that works. You can do your mixes- then save them and put them on a CD/iPod to listen to. Once you get bored of them- simply repeat the process!

Yes it does work, but he/she has to have his/her computer on to be able to download.

I was curious about some other mixes too but couldn't download them all.

Btw Angelique stripped is mine.....

You have to download the mixes- then drag and drop them (or load them via the bottom left hand button) into your u-myx player.
You can only hear them through the u-myx player, so if you don't have the album, you can't hear the mixes!

Where can you get the software to use the U-MYX versions on the CD ?

Is it commercial software ? Can you use it for free ?

Its on the album. Just stick the disc in your computer and get cracking. You don't need to install anything- it all runs straight off the CD- there's 4 songs in the format- Angelique, Our father, Slipstream and Quicksilver.

U-MYX is great fun! I had Dance ejay and this is similar in some respects. I start by making all layers silent and then building up what I like most. May post something soon, great idea and thanks to Mike for letting us play around with his beautiful creations  :)

BTW guys. You can change the volume of layers in case my previous post didn't make sense to all. (I downloaded Angelique stripped and it had no volume changes)

Click the plus signs near to the layer title. It works well, you can build up volume, it doesn't have to be the same through the whole track!!  :D

Biggest problem with u-myx is not being able to move the blocks around. I guess if you use the sound card to record the individual bits then you can use another program, but that's all too complicated for me.

still good fun though.

Yes,I do agree with that. That's a negative point of U-Myx in general, for people like me who enjoys being a DJ when I can,to expand my ideas to remix a tune. Got Angelique and Quicksilver, and I played a bit,but I didn't come with a finished product that I can say I'm proud of and get into the competition.Maybe I'm too perfectionist like Mike himself.

Every track is like a birth Tati!  :D

I toned down the loops and drums/bass (too trancey for me) and feel my mixes are pretty cool, I think the best think is getting rid of bits you don't like in that track, and enhancing guitar etc, this means that you will enjoy the track more! I have burned my favourite mixes to a CD, entitled 'best of U-MYX'!!   :D
