Hmm.  I've tried to reproduce the problem in IE6, IE7 and Firefox 1.5... and can't seem to get it to occur.  I've found a possible reason why this was occurring and made a small change, perhaps you could try it again?  I'd suggest that you refresh the page to ensure that the new code is picked up.

Still the same error, refreshing the page throws up the error too! :/

Thanks Moz, the posting of articles at lyricless in now fixed.

There's 20 more Fan Cover Tracks posted at the Tubular.net Download Centre, more tracks will be posted soon when time permits.

I signed up now. :) There are great possibilities in the site, though it definitely needs a comfortable searching function.

Thanks DC - unfortunately it's now broken for admins!  I totally rewrote the code, so at least it is working mostly as it should.  I'll have a look as soon as I can.

EeToN, the back-end is a work in progress, and a search function will be done at some point in the future.  I do agree that it would make the site more useful, and it's very high on my list of things to do.  When I write the search function, I'll probably be testing it on lyricless.com, so you'll be the first to see it. :)

Just for the record, the problems with adding new articles are now 100% fixed (for admins, too!;). :D

Hey Moz!, there's another bug, I can't edit my posts again (it was ok the other day), I've made some typos and need to correct them, have you been doing some more updates?

I've posted all the Fan Remix tracks and all the Fan Cover tracks I have (there's a list of all the missing Fan cover tracks in my next post below), it should give you some idea just how frustrating it is for the visitors over here to read a post then find a dead link when they want to check out the music (hence the whole Tubular.net Download Centre idea).

Next up is the Fan Tracks (I can see that section giving me nightmares for weeks).

Maybe when we're done we should re-post the lists in the respective forums (with a url to the forum posts?) to see if anyone can help get the archive as complete as possible?.

The cost of the server is covered by me, believe me, the bandwidth from the music hosted so far (and in the future) will not even touch the bandwidth used by some other files I've been involved in creating for free. The most popular file we have on another site is 501MB in size and has had 10709 downloads so far (I'll leave you to work out the bandwidth used on that one). The current server I'm using is limited to 1500GB a month, however, if need be, I'll create another server account to cover any issues.

There is always a solution to every problem - if there ever is a problem with bandwidth on the Tubular.net Download Centre server (which I doubt), I could easily create multiple ISO's of 700MB containing the music tracks in bulk along with a freeware MP3 player and have unlimited bandwidth for each ISO along with multiple worldwide mirrors via another site. ;)

Many thanks Booster, I try to credit all the musicians on the article if there's any collaborations, but many of the tracks by the musicians do not have ID tags so I'm going by the posts on these forums. Don't forget Booster, if you register at Lyricless, Moz will put you as the article author and you can edit the posts with any additional info (all I'm doing so far is posting the song title, musician and download link).

The edit link is missing from the page Moz, I thought it was there the other day when you posted that everything was 100% fixed (that's why I'm assuming you've made some updates).

To try and reduce the discussion of site-specific issues in this thread, I've started some topics over at lyricless.com:

Just registered and want to take ownership of your tracks?
http://www.lyricless.com/view_article?id=161

Please report issues with the site here:
http://www.lyricless.com/view_article?id=195

Please suggest improvements to the site here:
http://www.lyricless.com/view_article?id=196

You'll need to register a username before you can post comments over there.  I'll continue to check this thread, but I'd appreciate it if you could all post in the above threads if your comments fit into one of them.  Thanks!

I've added a search function to the site.  Go to Fan Tracks or Cover Tracks and you'll see a Search link at the top.  Alternatively, use these links:

Search Fan Tracks
http://www.lyricless.com/search?area=14

Search Cover Tracks
http://www.lyricless.com/search?area=15

At the moment, it's very simple, but I'll be improving it soon.

I'd like to include some new tracks under Editor's Pick. Please reply to the following thread with recommendations: http://www.lyricless.com/view_article?id=251

You can recommend a maximum of three tracks, but no more than one of your own tracks.

Choose from the list of Fan Tracks or Cover Tracks in the Tubular.net download centre.  You can only recommend tracks that appear on lyricless.com.  All of the tracks will be posted there soon, but it takes time.

The deadline for recommendations is June 30th.

Gents (Moz & Mr Draemer)

I have an album of not cover material but instrumental stuff - not really copying Mr Oldfield but I guess inspired by what he does.  How can I get it to the site?  Do you want it?

Your music could go under Fan Tracks.  Each of the tracks from your album would be posted separately to reduce the overall download size, that is if you want to make all of them downloadable.

DC is downloading all of the audio files from the musician forums here at tubular.net and is saving them to his own web space.  Do you have the files hosted anywhere, even if it's only temporary?

I'll wait for DC to reply so he can suggest the best way for you to get the files to him if they're not already online.

No - I've never put them anywhere.  They are just Garageband creations.  But it is really funny that one part I made uses this garageband riff that I think Mr Oldfield use in Light and Shade (what a cheat he and I are).

I wont tell so you can see if you can spot it.

I'll have to email them to you as MP3's.

Let me know where to send them to and i will.

Ray
