The reason why I am asking is that it might be good to pass this album by the great man himself (hopefully he would be flattered). It would be nice for his approval and even better for him to write a small piece on the start of the credits....

Well this is his site, after all - don't forget that his wife posted a whole series of reflections here a few months ago. If he doesn't know about it already presumably the moderators could pass the word along. I recommend Matt for this duty: I think even Mike would be scared to say "no" to him!

Just an idea let's make the release date 15th May.
Dedicate it to The Big Man and try to get it presented to him that day :D
Just a thought.

That's not his birthday, is it? I take it you've had a word with the mods about opening a channel of communication.

My birthday is Feb 27... the second last day of summer. There's something "Sunset"ish (I'm talking about the piece from LaS) and poetic about that...

I missed the 1 sorry (On the 15th May).

No message to the Mods yet .
All we need is someone like Korg to send a polite email with a link.

That lets out jokesters like you and Me, Milamber. On the first line of your email you'd be asking Mr O if you can buy Nulla Nulla in the Bahamas!

When I spoke to Korg and Tim face to face (June 2009) at the 'Bells' promotion in London, I asked a few questions. They said they didn't communicate with Mike at all, but occasionally were in contact with Fanny.

Im not surprised they arent in contact really....Mike has always been a bit distant.....Im surprised that he was happy for Fanny to do that Diary...maybe he didnt know, and when he found out, he asked her to stop? Who knows.

I know that was true in the early days, but I read on the web somewhere that these days he can be a bit of an extrovert!

I think Wiga thinks I myself am an introverted extrovert - go figure!

Some collaborations happening now behind the scenes.

Hopefully should have something to show in a few weeks.

Its a bit early really to say anything but hopefully a little duo know known as the Piltdown Men may have something tasty in the works

As I recall, when I was wondering if you might be an introvert, you said you thought you were more an extrovert type - an extrovert that couldn't be bothered you said!

Okay dokay... I think I might have finished my track.

http://soundcloud.com/purplerhapsody/ripples-final-release

The only thing I might change is to remove the blatant nod to TB at 0:35 and 0:44 because I'm not sure it fits... opinions anyone?

If the general consensus is a thumbs up I'll upload it to the shared site.

Thanks in advance for listening...

Cheers,
Terry.

Terry

D'you know I missed the TB piano part and just gone back and yes it's genius. I've done a very similar thing at the beginning of the new version of HATM. Yours is better as it's not obvious as first. I would keep it in....

Posted my comments on Soundcloud. A worthy addition to the album! I think wiga, milamber, nightspore, Sir Mustapha et al will agree that this is a great piece of music.

Sounds great as it is.
Once again Terry you manage to stir the emotions :)

A Very worthy addition to our ever growing opus.

For the Album....................
I think a May 15 release should be a definite. (Mikes BDay)
I will PM Matt today about the possibility of getting an email to Mike with the hope of him listening to it.

Hi Chaps

This really is hot off the press. I have thrown this track together tonight. It's not mixed right and it needs develping but I thought I'd share it with you. It's in my folder here's the link:

Barafundle

It,s got a long way to go before it's complete but the basic melody is there.

What do you think?

Its easy to see your excited by this one ..me too :D

Very Oldfieldian ,Some more drums from 1:57 onwards would give it a real Ommadawn feeling i.m.o.

Some Timpani perhaps.

Nice.

Yes, you have another winner there, QM. For some reason whenever I hear a lot of your music, though, I get echoes of Tr3s Lunas.

Sorry to keep harping about descending melodies, but yes, their presence here does give the piece an Ommadawn feel. Structurally, it's two thirds to being in the same genre as "Celt": you have the racing rhythm and descending melody. Now all you need to do is finish off with the main theme rising instead of descending! :D

I hope you don't mind this kind of analysis....

Yes, well done Terry! I like the exuberant racing melody which somehow manages to sound wistful too. Perfect driving music, if you want to hoon through country towns you may never see again! :D  :O
