I have just remembered who my nominee is!
EeToN

Thanks, bee! :)
Then I think A Floating Rose would be my contribution. You can still find it in its original topic. :)

After I did that thing with bits of Hergest Ridge some people did suggest I have a go at Ommadawn...

Here's another vote for it, Songs of Hergest Ridge is great!

I thought "Floating Rose" referred to the rose in TL, but I see it doesn't. However, the beginning reminds me of the bird cave from Maestro. And what Oldfield melody is the tune a variation of? I can't quite place it.

You mean something like that picture from the inlay of TB2 with the webbing/ netting around the bottom of the bell?

...that hadn't occurred to me Mat, but yes, that kind of idea...maybe with something behind...behind the net? which is what's been happening, we've all been busy behind the net making music etc, getting on with life and then this Tubular.net think links us all up, across the world

...the contours you get on a map also suggest that kind of continuity and fluidity...maybe all a bit too abstract?

I added 'Songs of Hergest Ridge' (in FLAC and MP3 flavours - feel free to delete one or other if space becomes an issue). For people who don't know, I did that back in 2003 - the idea was to rework bits from HR in the style of TSODE and TL.

I'll try to do something new as well if time allows - I was a student back then with more spare time :)

@ Mat :: I liked Songs of Hergest Ridge very much, gave me goose pimples on my forearms and neck, so it must be good!...somehow you have given the music new texture...but it's still very respectful of the original, lovely.

Tubular Tos your stuff is Great Nuff Said.
I love your Beautiful Unknown Chant and your Mike and Me is perfect for the Remix section.

Mat Songs of HR is just wonderful I agree with Bee.
And we now have our first track for The Covers section.

I'm hoping when this is all done Matt or Olivier will put a link to this on the front page of the site.

As a major goal of this project is getting your music out there to a wider audience  :D

Also to keep things more neutral and moving I've decided to get in a Co-Producer to help with Song Layout and Design ect.

Please welcome Wiga to this thread her classical training and devotion to the project and love of all things Mike will be an enormous help down the track.

As I have a baby on the way it will be an enormous help towards the end of the project as I expect my time may be limited.

@ Milamber and everyone: sorry, but I am still unclear on how this works. Do the pieces necessarily have to be the members' own creations? Or remixes (U-Myxes) are allowed as well? If they are, I will upload my Simplified Mix of "Quicksilver" by the end of this week, and, if Milamber here gives me a little bit of a hand, I and him may also turn out another remix. :)

Ugo .
It will be along the line of Mikes The Complete Mike Oldfield.

The Originals Section.
The Covers Section.
The Remix Section.
The Umyx Section.

Blimey - thanks for that Milamber! I'm not classically trained as such, I play violin and cello.... OK.

The fan music on here is brilliant and it would be a pleasure to help put it in order.

What about 'Through the Tubular net' as a title??

Maybe, although it makes me think more of Alice (Through the Looking Glass) rather than Mike's work.
