Maybe it would be a little heavy to do it with every album, but according with the fact that my fave record is TBII, I´ve decided to make a little "top ten" of it as a tribute for what is, for me,

the BEST RECORD OF MUSIC EVER MADE.

So, come on... I´ll put in my ten faves and the one I like least.

1 Sentinel
2 Clear Light
3 Weightless
4 Maya Gold
5 Sunjammer
6 The Great Plain
7 Tattoo
8 The Bell
9 Dark Star
10 Altered State

The one I like least:

1 Moonshine

O.K., come on and enjoy.

Hi all. I'm new to this site, so please forgive me if I burble a bit. Feeling the way.
I have a question: Here in New Zealand we have a limited supply of Mike's music. I was wondering if any one could let me have a download or copy of Tubular Bells II. In return I could let them have copies, from LP (vinyl) records of some of his earlier works. Or if interested I do have other music, of electronic nature, such as Tangerine Dream, Kitaro, Vangelis etc. I have 144 records and countless numbers of tapes.
Regards Bob. smile

Hi, friend. Welcome to this forum, and my advice is that you can easily download all Mike's and others' music you like in www.audiogalaxy.com where, being a member you have free access to all mp3 files you can imagine.

By the way, if you roam around there, you can find me there and maybe I can help you, my nickname there is pitueste (in small letter).

You only have to type any word of any title, and one of the words of the author's name (for example, "sentinel oldfield").

Hope you find a lot of things there, and enjoy the forum!!! wink

biggrin Delfin. Thank you very much for replying to me. It is so great to be able to communicate this way, with people who share the same interest in great music. I have gone to Audiogalaxy and have joined. A fantastic site, thanks! smile I will be making a concerted effort to go through the whole site and get what I need.
Catch you sometime on-line or in the site or here. Many thanks once again.

Argh, I'll have to rack my brain real hard for this one...

My least favourite must be Tattoo. Sorry, but the bagpipes sound cheesy as heck.

1- Altered State (at least, it's funny)
2- Sunjammer (if only for the piano lead out, the guitars should rock harder)
3- Weightless (err, I suppose)
4- Sentinel
5- Maya Gold
6- Clear Light
7- Moonshine
8- Dark Star
9- Blue Saloon
10- Uhh... Red Dawn, I suppose

Here's mine...

1 Moonshine (Very corny. I love it!;)
2 The Bell (Reminds me of my two friends going out.)
3 Altered State (TBI section makes more sense than this.)
4 Dark Star (Pretty funky!;)
5 Sunjammer
6 Red Dawn
7 Weightless
8 Sunset Door
9 Blue Saloon (Second part is not good.)
10 Sentinel (Too long.)

The worst, IMO, is The Great Plain. It sound like something I've heard a million times before.

It's very hard to choose because the whole is a masterpiece in my eyes but I tried it:

1. Clear Light (wonderful)
2. Weightless
3. Sentinel
4. Altered State (with those briliant guitar solos)
5. Sunjammer
6. Sunset Door
7. Tattoo
8. Dark Star
9. The Great Plain
10. Moonshine (I used to dislike it but now I also love this one)

I have no least favourite one. :)

The Best: The Bell. I just love the way the guitar outro (not too long on this, compared to TBI IMHO) makes me feel as though the last 29 minutes were all just a dream, inside someone's head (Mike's I guess).

The Worst: Blue Saloon. Thing is, this is a really great track, but then this is my fav Oldfield album, so the worst is gonna be best than the best of other stuff he's done  :D .

Other highlights: Clear Light. So expressive and emotional, so deep. Altered state - brilliant track all around, very fun, but also love the heavy guitar section (prequel to finale of Outcast, methinks)

My favourite track would have to be Clear Light, particularly the final section with the piano, acoustic and electric guitars in a duet. Wonderful. Maya Gold is another favourite of mine. I won't name a worst track, because I don't have one at the moment.
