I don't think I've ever felt that I 'belonged' here, if I really think about it. (I like coming here, but that's not the same thing.) Often I feel a bit 'square peg in a round hole', because I can't participate in any of the technical discussions, or fan music discussions; and most people here know infinitely more about rock music in general than I do. Those lists in the 'best albums' thread, for instance - I find those quite intimidating, because I recognise so few! By comparison, my list (if I made one) would be embarrassingly feeble and limited. Truth is - it's not easy for anyone to get past that old fundamental 'existential loneliness' problem.

Oh I dunno Alan  sure every one has his or her valid points to make. I do feel a bit out of my depth in some of the discussions.  What's to say that your top albums list would be "feeble and limited", and this is coming from me , and I'm currently suffering from depression. I think it's interesting to see what other people like, I've been introduced to some lesser well known bands/artists in my time on here  :D, checking some out and going out and buying/downloading (legally) their music   :) .

still though it is terrible that you actually feel like this.

No, honestly Craig, it isn't terrible. I'm very comfortable with it all - I know I'm free to contribute wherever I can, and I do, and these are all choices I make - no one else influences them. If I look at those lists of esoteric albums and feel a little intimidated by that, then those are my neuroses at work, and that's my problem to resolve. I wasn't complaining, not even slightly. (After all, no one could possibly think I was reluctant to post, could they!?) I'm just comparing notes with fellow travellers. One day I may even suddenly say what the heck, and plant my list of top ten albums!

(In my experience, once someone starts talking about feeling as if they don't quite 'fit', suddenly lots of people start saying: 'Do you feel like that too? I thought it was only me'... and so on.)

I just felt it was terrible, if that is something your comfortable with, then that's cool. Just commenting on what you said. And I would love to see what you come up with a top 10 albums. :) Cheers mate.

Waitaminute... how did this come to encouraging Alan to post more??

Ah, you see the posts in this thread by Mick, Craig and myself were all part of an elaborate plot for world domination. But it seems like the game is up.

Put the kettle on guys. We've been rumbled.

Oh well we tried guys. And here's me thinking that we could get away with our evil plan.  :D

Kettle is on. Milk and sugar?

In a Village Close to me..  There used to be a Shop in the High Street.. Called "Ferret World"...   Its not there anymore though, mores the Shame..:)   I think it was pretty unique in its own way...    I think it sold .. Ferret Drainpipes Cages Toys and Collars etc and anything else that may of tickled a ferrets fancy.   Although i never saw any Fair ladies of the Town walking their Ferrets around.. Maybe it wasnt that popular...    While living in Spain I did on occasion see a ferret or two escorted along the Sea front...  Has there ever been a Song written about a "Ferret"   not sure.. lol..

The Ferrets of High Street

In the small village close to me,
On its High Street, there used to be
A place (unique in its own way)
To tickle a ferret's fancy

(CHORUS)
More's the shame!
Who's to blame,
For losing High Street's claim to fame?

Collars, cages, and toys galore
Were to be found at this pet store
But "Ferret World" has gone away
And doesn't stand there anymore

(CHORUS)
More's the shame!
Who's to blame,
For losing High Street's claim to fame?

Mr D  - for more ferrets, I'm sure Tracey will happily send something trouser-ward for you.

Over the years we've seen many greatadditions to our tub.net family, some more vocal than others. And, as I'm sure M-C will attest, there is a general forum/group process most go through.

The watching, then tentative posting, then posting everywhere, then backing off before settling in to posting where they are comfortable.

Different personality types will get stuck at different levels, but the general response to all types here is so positive, this forum really stands out as one if not the best I know of.

But - beware the pantyless woman and her rummaging ferrets!

Just Googled Ferret....
Looks like the "Monty Python Guys got there act together and wrote one"

Called   "The Ferret Song"    lyrics are as follows

can see a bare-bottomed mandril
Slyly eyeing his upper nostril
Ih he jumps inside there too
I really won't know what to do
I'll be a proud possessor of a kind of nasal zoo
A nasal zoo

I've got a ferret sticking up my nose
And what is worse it constantly explodes
Ferrest don't explode you say
But it happened nine times yesterday
And I should know 'cause each time
I was standing in the way

I've got a ferret sticking up my nose
I've got a ferret sticking up my nose
How it got there I can't tell
But now it's there it hurts like hell
And what is more it radically affects my sense of smell.

Never Heard it played though lol...
