OK, I haven't heard the track itself yet - album isn't apparently out for another month - but they've put out a *trailer* for the promo video!

Wonder what it'll be like?

Pretty Horrendous Overall...    They havent taken it in one direction but about 4 or 5 all at the Same Time... Maybe if someone Had never Heard the Original they might get a Grain of Pleasure from the Song...

I actually liked the video. Very good production !
Her voice is very nice and I enjoyed a lot this video.

BUT the guitarrist doesn't know how to play. The guitar solo from 2:32 to 2:40 is terrible  :/   :/  :/

I'm posting this comment here in a MO forum, but cannot post it in the Youtube comments.

Blind Guardian's version was better that this recent one...

It started off quite promisingly but her voice is really weak, the heavy guitar ruins it and the video is cheesy.

What else can I say?

I like it. :p

Playing it yesterday, I was experiencing some of the typical trials of YouTubing at our libraries with it pausing every few seconds.  I was taking 3Wheeler's point of view at first; it was going off in all sorts of dissonant directions.  It took me a long while to work out that the trailer was still intermittently playing as well...

You should be cursing the original, it's what eventually led me here after all!  I loved that then and now, and this is close enough to the spirit of it for me.  That's me though; you others can no doubt take comfort that the band's official pages describe it as "chilling" :D

They go through drummers at a rate of knots though.  How long's your hair, Milamber?  Milamber?  Milamber...?

I'm indifferent to it. The original isn't among my favourite MO songs, so that probably doesn't help. If they'd tampered with "Islands" I'd probably have been quite cross  :(

Its great that modern bands are covering Mike Oldfield, its all good exposure to his music. But although she does have a good voice for Mikes music, like Anita Hegerland did, her voice doesn't seem correct to the backing track, its like they chose the wrong take :/  The guitar solo is not a patch on Oldfield.
