Well, Jules, it seems that I may agree with you on something and strongly disagree on something else. I strongly disagree with you about Bonnie Tyler and "Islands".

Where's the agreeing with me part?   ;)

I loathe Bonny Tyler's singing style.  I loathe the sound of the song Islands.  It's about as far away from what I enjoy Mike doing as it's possible to go.  That awful glossy 80s pop sound he ended up doing.  Just awful.

In my humble opinion.   :D

Jules, I'm ganging up with Ugo here. Either you can apologize about "Islands", or it's standover-tactics time!  :(

@ Jules: I meant that I agreed with you on something you wrote in another topic. Life would be very boring if I agreed with you on everything, wouldn't it? [nightspore does know about this. :D]

I agree in principle.  But in practice saying you enjoy Bonny Tyler's brand of 80s big hair croaking does show a remarkable lapse in good taste.   :D

I haven't yet heard Wind Chimes, or Islands for now. I am still digesting Ommadawn, which I haven't previously owned. I am planning however to eventually accumulate all of Mike's discography. I will probably post again here in a couple years stating my opinion, so watch out future people to visit this site!

You're in for a treat, Laddie (as Milamber might say)! Even the album's weakest spot, "Magic Touch", has useful insights into whether a relationship will be successful!  :D

I agree, all the pop songs are good for one reason or the other. Actually, gonna search spotify... YES!

@ milamber: if you refer to the one which is almost all music and no vocals and goes into "Étude" after a while, yes, I know what you're talking about, and I like it. :)

Ugo I was actually giving a nod to our bootleg discussion a while back.
But the version you mentioned is unknown to me , would love to hear it.
Any chance of a link? :D  :D  :D

" Bootleg? "

Would that not be " Any chance of a drink? "

@ milamber: I don't remember having a discussion about bootlegs with you, as I'm not really interested in bootlegs. Anyway, here is the version I was talking about. It's an mp3 because that's how I have it, and its tag is exactly like I originally downloaded it, i.e. it gives no further information than "Live in Göteborg 1982". I guess it's from a bootleg. :) The audio quality is not good, indeed it is shitty. But it is the only version of IHP I actually like, and I love the way it transits here into "Étude".

Ugo, correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought it emerged in a recent discussion of Crises that while you hated side 1 you loved all of side 2? I hate "In High Places" as well, but I haven't got around to listening to the version you like yet.

Just listened and despite the "shitty" quality I can see why you prefer a vocal less version.
Throws up a few questions though as Etude was obviously written a few years before the KF .
Also you get a glimpse of what this song could have been had Mike made it an instrumental and fully developed it.
Much thanks Ugo, another for the collection. :)

@ nightspore: when we had that discussion, I had kind-of forgot that IHP was on side 2 of Crises. I remembered that only after the discussion ended. :D
