The album "The Songs Of a Distant Earth" is a magical aray of sounds and melodies that can ,if in the right mood, take you beyound the releams of space and time.
It plays like a magical movie of dream like bliss and ,when in a mood of bad sorts, can chase away all your blues and sorrows...
I take my Hat of to you MO..Wldone..

ITS MAGIC................

Must say I agree.  Just bought it today and really enjoyed it on my first listen.  It is a wonderfully constructed piece, with a great range of mood and dynamics.

I also have the book on order from the local bookshop - looking forward to seeing how well the one reflects the other.

I played the CD again today for the first time since before Christmas, and it really is growing on me more and more,

My favourites are still "Oceania", "Time Will Tell" and "Ascension" but those tracks that  I was originally not too keen on are beginning to win me over, especially "Magellan", "Supernova" and "Crystal Clear"

Im not if this is Mike's best work but for me its the most played album of his over the last 12 months.

I've suffered from depression for years, and this album always manages, without fail, to make me feel better.  It really is 'healing music'.

It's not easy to say what the best Album is,
The" Songs of a Distant Earth " in my opinion, is the very best Album that I've ever heard!

And yet sadness is never far away from most of Mike's music. Sometimes it wrenches me so much I can't listen to it. "Sunset" on LaS is like that.

Hi Sparrow, welcome to the group. I can never have Mike's music "in the background" - it commands attention to much!

Priorities! :P

On the subject of sex, this guy does perfect music for it. Just the right cadence and naughtiness ;)

I just can't conceive how people can do it -- how does one cope with someone else interferring in his intimacy?

To me, music matches sex as much as grease matches computer keyboard, i.e. yuck!  One thing weakens the other, they're self-defeating. Music is as adequate for sex as it is for watching an airplane smash into your house.

Hearing is one of the most important senses involved in the act; and I can't imagine occupying it with some other guy who's trying to make you pay attention to what he is doing it. Listen to your counterpart, goddamit! Stick your ear on his/her mouth and pay attention.

So what, pray, would you do while watching an airplane smash into your house?

Sir Mustapha and nightspore would stick their respective ears on their respective counterparts mouths and listen for the "In the event of this plane crash-landing" advice, presumeably?  :p

I gotta say "Talk Dirty To Me" has sure changed since I was a lad!

Mike, i want another Disc like this.....underground caves, maybe history....

Ah. like "Land of the Lost":

Where last the Marshall Family'd gone...
Carried away on a raging river
The greatest earthquake ever known...
Struck their tiny raft, on a raging river
Lost down the river last saturday night
Far away on the other side.
They were caught in the middle of a doorway through time
And their tiny raft plunged and fell through...

----

Crystal matrix, crystal matrix.
What you gonna find in the crystal matrix?
Crystal matrix, crystal matrix.
What you gonna find in the crystal matrix?

Hearing hisses in the dark as the torch burns low.
Creeping through the Lost city tunnels, go!
Try to put a message through to your own time.
Enik, won't you help me? Is that such a crime?

Crystal matrix, crystal matrix.
Enik won't you teach me the crystal matrix?
Crystal matrix, crystal matrix.
Ranni, can you reach me? crystal matrix.

(I bet no-one has any idea what this is about)

Gazing back over the thread of this topic I find this post.

Can anyone be Crystal clear what this is about? as I am in the dark as if looking over shadowed on a moonlight night with only a glimmer of hope as to finding it's full meaning in what has been written in the attached post.

My word it is a desperate fight, I think I am in a crises & far away from understanding this, is it a song?.

I think that is enough of looking deeply into this gem for now trying to find a discovery, perhaps Hiawatha will come forward & be our guide & tell us of the secrets within their heart that they are keeping close on their other side! to make it crystal clear what this post was all about, or will we have to go on crystal gazing in the moonlight glow before we\I get the message? to which no one until now had replied.
