To find the Hall of Tunnels, go forward from the main spiral stairs and along the central passageway. Go straight on until you reach a large circular hall with a dome-shaped ceiling covered with sky and clouds. This is the Hall of Tunnels. A plan of it can be seen on the main map.

In the centre is a pedestal with a model castle on it. Above that, in the ceiling, is a spire, with a big twirly thing slowly twirling at its entrance. All around the walls there are different coloured holes: these are the entrances to tunnels, and there are 12 of them. You can see them all mapped out in this composite image. In reality, you can't see all the tunnels at once (as shown in the composite image), but if you go as far forward as you can without leaving the hall, and then look back towards where you came in, and scan slowly from left to right, you'll see all the tunnels as they're laid out in the composite image.

The tunnels are labelled A to L in the diagram and on the map. Each tunnel is coloured differently, as follows (click on each link to see the tunnel entrance):

Tunnel A
Tunnel B
Tunnel C
Tunnel D
Tunnel E
Tunnels F and G
Tunnel H
Tunnel I
Tunnel J
Tunnel K
Tunnel L

Each tunnel takes you to a different place on the spaceship. The posts in this thread will explain where each tunnel goes, and what you can do when you get there.

If you want to see how the tunnels relate to the structure of the spaceship, you can do so here.

Tunnel D

Passing through Tunnel D, you emerge into a room that seems completely empty at first. However, if you search around, you'll find a strange platform with a square multicoloured window.  Going through the square window returns you to the main spiral stairs.

Tunnel I

Passing through Tunnel I brings you into the Jigsaw Room. Pieces of jigsaw keep materialising and dematerialising, out of thin air. There's a bit of music, too.

I don't know of any way out, except back through the tunnel.

Tunnel F

Tunnel F takes you to the Library, whose walls are covered with books with unreadable titles. (Well, mostly unreadable. I can make out Sisson's Synonyms, Natural Healing, Holy Bible, The Crooked Spire, and something about Vitamins.)

Along two walls, however, run three large thick metal shelves, and there are three hints books on each of the two lower shelves, as follows:

Bottom shelf
Book 1 shows how to get back into the spaceship from outside it.
Book 2 gives a hint about putting medals into the blind man's hat.
Book 3 gives a clue about one of the light switches in the main hall.

Middle shelf
Book 1 gives the location of the four medals on the roof (Tcity1-4).
Book 2 gives a hint about the key needed to free the birds in the Bird Cavern.
Book 3 shows where to put the gravitars when you collect them on the quest to become Maestro.

The only way out of the Library seems to be back through the tunnel.

Tunnel K

At first sight the room at the end of the tunnel may seem empty, but if you explore, you'll find a small army of stickmen patrolling the room, surrounded by a cloud of yellow rings that are continually materialising and dematerialising. The stickmen are guarding a circular multicoloured window. There's some great music, too.

Move close to the window and try to pass through (if you have problems, try shooting at it, or back off and try again). You'll be transported to the asteroid belt and Atomium. (This is the only way out, unless you go back through the tunnel.)

Tunnel L

Look around the room at the end of the tunnel and you'll see an avenue of blue crystal pillars stretching off into the distance. If you approach one of them, you'll see that embedded within it are several gravitars. (Quite what they're doing in there, we don't know.)

Move further along the avenue and you'll see a column of gravitars, materialising and dematerialising in the air. At the end of the avenue is a multicoloured circular window, which will take you back to the main spiral stairs.

Tunnel G

Tunnel G takes you to the lair of the giant crab, which will be waiting in the room for you, looking quite scary. In fact it's harmless. Above its head is a medal, to which you can easily help yourself if you want it (number 11 in the Medal Quest).

You can also, with a bit of persistence, explore the interior of the crab's legs. Well, it takes all sorts.

The only way out is back through the tunnel.

Tunnels E and H

Tunnels E and H both lead to the scorpion's lair. You'll probably hear the scorpion before you see it - it wanders around this (quite large) room. The scorpion carries a medal (number 20) which you can take if you're following the medal quest.

You can get back to the Hall of tunnels via either of the two exits, marked with a coloured DNA symbol.

Tunnel J

All black with stars and galaxies - a hint to the small world with it's Atomium and medal.

A simple puzzle will await you, fly trough the hoops then enter the atomium. Another area (similar to the room maze) designed to dis-orientate you with its simplicity and similarity. All the areas look the same but with some easy clues.

Another clue book is hidden inside the Atomium, see the medal quest for more details.

--------------
The answer is 42 - but what is the question?

Tunnel A

An important tunnel: it takes you to the cometar garage, but be warned - the cometars are only visible in red light. If you go there in blue light, you won't find 'em. They're lined up along one of the walls - there are lots of them. And at the far end of the room there are a few of the souped-up red cometars (more difficult to fly).

There's a nice silver ball in here that moves around playing a simple tune, and scattering little silver balls along its wake.

[Extra information provided by Gary1eye]:
There's a secret quick way out from the garage. Search the room for a rather sharp corner - you can tell if you're at the right one, because you can hear music as you approach it. Just fly slowly into the corner and you'll be transported back to the main spiral stairs, in blue light.
