Please, no, Hiawatha, this is going to be humiliating for Mike :/  ;)
MB is certainly one of the least good mike albums and Division Bell is my Floyd favourite...
Comparing Distant Earth and D.Bell would be fairer I think... :)

Can you imagine the bias? lol  ;)

It would be on paper, both being in the same technological age, TB and Dark side of the moon were also, which do you think uses technology better?

Back to Division bell (I've made this topic abit random, sorry)

Coming back to life is my favourite song at the moment  :)

I don't think that Division Bell is a very good PF album. In fact I think it's a rather poor one. The only song I really like on it is the very Gilmourian "Coming back to life". I'm also rather fond of "High hopes" - but this latter one smells to me a little bit too much like 1970s PF to belong in a 1994 PF album. :)

I like the Division Bell! No, not the greatest album in the world, but when you are a band who has created something as great as DSOTM, You're under a lot of pressure. People could argue that there hasn't been a decent Floyd album since. And Gilmour did really well considering the bands situation at the time. Yes, he recieved a lot of help from songwriters, but they are still great tracks.

The Division Bell was a great return to form for Pink Floyd(even without Roger Waters) it sounding more Floyd like than A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, it has some great songs on it, and is very well recorded and produced, as has already been said, it's not the best Floyd album ever, but it is still a great album, with Gilmour on top form both playing guitar and singing, plus it marks Rick Wrights return to form with a great song too.

PF is my "number two", and "Division Bell" is the greatest PF album for me. I love every single track... They are constructed in a such great sytle... It's brilliant, just brilliant in each single moment.
It's one of the moust beautiful albums I have ever heard.

Six years later this Album still kicks arse.
At least High Hopes was a befitting swansong to a band that gave much.

Some may say the post Waters era was more polished and they'd be Wright :D

Hi Cam, thought i'd add me two bobs worth too.
Always had "Division bell" as a fave, but then i do like their earlier stuff, having grown up with it.... "Animals" for it's ambience, Meddle and earlier.
But then....... i like them all    :)

I think the album is like 50% good and 50% stinker to be honest.
I like the intro, Marooned, What do You Want From Me, Poles Apart (the best track IMO), Coming Back to Life, the one with Stephen Hawking on it + High Hopes. The rest sounds very un-floyd. It sounds like U2, Neil Young or something. Not my cup of tea. A Great Day For Freedom is just dire.
Same thing for "On an Island". It has a few very floydian tracks and a bunch of average mid-tempo Dylan-sounding nonsense!

I'm going thru a bad patch at the moment, with the PF. I play pool for a local team and the landlord of the pub plays nothing but PF. It can get to you. It has and I'm sick of it.

The one friggin album he doesn't play is DSOTM. So thats still mah favourite with Meddle a close second. :O  :O  :p
