I just wanted to personally thank Mike for his contribution to music with this piece. It is a truely incredible work and after listening to it again last night I was amazed at the beauty within it.

No matter how bad, evil and ruel the world is, it's reassuring to know that there is music of great power and intensity to make all the bad stuff go away. This work is a great testament of a reat composer. The final minutes of the piece are more joyous and exhillirating than Beethovens 9th (imo) but of course it will never be viewd that way because beethoven is beethoven and mike is mike, dosen't mean its true though?

So Mike, thankyou for writing a piece that will be analysed, respected and admired many years from now.

One quick question, does anyone know who wrote the text that the impersonator says at the end, was that written by mike too?

Thanks all!

The text was most probably written by the impersonator herself, i.e. Janet Brown, though I think that Mike surely gave her some inputs. ;)

It reminds that if I see Mike in the street:
I hit him saying "That's for Islands!!" :O
Then I hug him saying "That's for Amarok!!"

Everyone's interpretation is different, and everyone has a right to that opinion. There is no "right" one, I am adding this post to communicate my thoughts to share them with like-minded souls who will be able to comment in good nature.

Just wanted to voice my opinion,

Yes THANKYOU mike, for bringing something so wonderful into the world. So complex yet so simple, so wierd yet strangely soothing, i love how open and clear the music is (almost in the vein of the Penguin Cafe Orchestra - but better!;)  so full of hope, the most amazing use of sounds as music i have heard, as time goes on the more this album becomes my personal favourite within the oldfield canon.

Ive played it to people who normally wouldnt touch Oldfield's music and they have been bowled over by it.

Sometimes I can listen to the whole thing with a big smile on my face.

One hour of pure oldfieldian Genius.

And folks, this proves you can't ever pass Mike off. He is full of suprises.

Hahaha, I'm very much amused by all this. If I have anything to be pissy about, it would be for making me jump out of my seat with "Happy?" *shivers* That scared me for some reason.

Why does that bit scare people so much? When I listened, I thought that "Happy?!" was one of my two favourite most uplifting bits of the whole album (Maggie's Clog-dancing pipe-tune is the other...) - It made me grin from ear to ear when I heard it :D

Tony :)
