Although Mike has seldom appeared on Later..., it is a great source for seeing new artists for the first time. I myself knew nothing about Alison Goldfrapp, Bat For Lashes, Anna Calvi or The Mummers until they appeared on Jools Holland. Which artists have you stumbled across by happy accident ?

Seasick Steve...

New Year's Eve a few years ago...couldn't believe the sound he was creating from such simple, unsophisticated equipment (i.e Broom handle, Morris minor hub caps etc) just loved the real earthiness of it I think.  Subsequently went to see him live...even better  :)

Sam Brown. The White Stripes (Poh, poh poh poh poh poh, poh... :D). Gnarls Barkley and later Cee Lo Green on his own. Kings of Convenience. Jools himself, of course, great interviewer and great musician. And of course I got a whole new appreciation for Mike's live playing since I saw him with Jools.

Yeah it was a Shame about Mark.. Seems to of taken them a bit of time to regroup and move on.. The last EP Mink Hollow Road was nice enough though.. Sure I Heard Raissa  say that a New Album is being worked on.. Some Radio Interview I think..
