Anyone else read Terry Oldfield's new book?
In my opinion it's better than Mike's ,and gives us more of an insight of what they're both like and not always in a good way. Brutally honest in parts , and perhaps you see why Mike is the way he is.
Just a little preachy towards the end though.

I've got it and have skim read it for the bits of Mike's life I am interested in (yes, no prizes for guessing...around 1975-1979!)...as you say, brutally honest. I haven't really read the rest, may get round to it on a slow day!

Yes I was the same with the 73 -79 era, that's really the part we're all interested in. Mike then appears randomly through the years later on.

I didn't know Terry had this book coming out, so thanks for letting me know, I will give it a read.

There was an interview with Terry a couple of months ago where he also talked about Mike and Sally.

I read a review about this book on one of ebook writing websites I visit regularly and the reviewer had so much positive to say about this book. I knew I had to read it and it has been sitting in my TBR list waiting. Can't wait to read it.

Thanks, Bot. I skimmed through it for the Mike bits but there wasn't much there that was new to me.

"My brother told me that his current way of improvising a guitar solo was to take two passes at the song then choose the best bits from each and edit them together."

I had the feeling this was the case with many of Mike's solos and meandering bass lines. That was 2012 talking about Journey into Space but I imagine Mike made a lot more than two passes in his really driven years.

That's what David Gilmour did for Comfortably Numb.

I always thought Terry Oldfield was an internet hoax. But then I have a conspiracy theory that someone is targeting conspiracy theories

He seems real. :D I bought one of his CDs once, Spirit of the Rainforest (I think). It was ok in an incense and crystals kind of way.

There were some things I enjoyed discovering about Mike. Richard's fish. Terry's mixer. What do you want with a £700 flute?

"Icon" (1995) is really good. I think it sold quite well at the time too.

Thanks I listened on bandcamp and it's good even if I can't do the tSoDE vibe myself anymore. I do like Resurrection but think it would better with two slightly distorted guitars.
