I hear rumours that Mike has been gorging himself on chocolate digestive biscuits, has now ballooned up to 12 stone and wishes to be known as Kenneth H Rustbucket from now on.

This is from a very unrelaible source however.

Lockdown is nothing new to Mike, he has always preferred being on his own.

On the Paradise Island of the Bahamas, I'm sure there's an Eve.

Yes, it could be Five Miles Out Take 2 -an alternative universes version, with tracks such as "Family Woman" and "Orabidon't".

Further thoughts about Tubular Bells 4. If I am right, and the first three TB albums were about the first three (lowest) Hindu chakras, then the fourth would be about the Heart Chakra. But this chakra is specifically aligned with the idea of sound not produced by striking anything! So Mike Oldfield would have to simulate the sound of tubular bells (and any other percussive instrument) electronically.

Isn't there an 8 min snippet of TB4 coming out soon??
Perhaps it was abandoned and only 8 or so mins were completed.

Mike seems to have gone from very visible and active to "poof"!!!

Either way, I hope he is well and enjoying life!

If Christopher Priest hears about TB4 he may well - a la his "tart" attack on Hellison - talk about "The Album on the Edge of Forever".

What is your source?

On the other hand, no one seems to have noticed the complete absence of the tubular bell instrument in Mr O's last album, so perhaps that was his way of saying "goodbye" not only to all things tubular but music under his name as well.

Ah, the ESPana site. How close to Mike Oldfield that site seems to be.

Of course, there's no reason why an album has to be composed "all at once". Perhaps events have to unfold, and with the unfolding of each event a new piece of the music will emerge.

I wonder if the image shown is official. I prefer the one someone posted a while back that was red, suggesting Mars, the 4th planet. Who knows, maybe Mike Oldfield is waiting for Musk to get to Mars before releasing the whole album.

Google translating the site, it cites as evidence that a new composition of 8 minutes duration has been logged with the PRS (performing rights society) entitled "Tubular Bells 4" with the author being Michael Gordon Oldfield.

Seems pretty legit, unless the PRS listing has been faked.

My prediction: a piece called Opus One will be released, as a teaser for TB4. It will be Terry Riley influenced, as per MO's previous statements.

If he did that it wouldn't be a "teaser" but a lie, as clearly he has written many opera since the true "Opus One", ie, Tubular Bells. Perhaps you've been using a snow globe instead of a crystal ball

Terry Riley = Retry Wryly  :p

I also received the e-mail today. I have had umpteen version's of TB over the years on Vinyl, CD, SACD etc but I am giving this Opus One Record Store Day vinyl a miss! Honestly, do we really need this release?

More info about the Opus One vinyl release can be found here:
https://recordstoreday.co.uk/rsd-list/mike-oldfield/

So yes, it was already released in 2009 in the special Tubular Bells box set.
