Snowy Owl's World (Unofficial)

Go to this set of ringheads at position 10 on the map. Touch the nearby green crystals so you can shoot rings.

Set your speed to 3 (just press the '3' key while the game is running - this is essential as you have to move fast). Stand well back from the leftmost ringhead. Only practice will tell you how far, but this picture will give you a rough idea of the distance (however, please note that the picture shows a different ringhead). Now fire a stream of rings at the ringhead. As soon as you can see at least one of them is probably on target, run like mad towards the nearby green crystals and hide behind them. Snowy will emerge but although you'll feel the force pulling you towards him, that just keeps you pressed against the green crystals. You'll probably slip from time to time, but just hang on and hope until the music stops. If you're successful, the green crystals disappear, and you'll see an extraordinary view like this.

You'll now find yourself in floating in the deep blue moonlit world of Snowy - one of the most strange, and most beautiful, of all the worlds in Tr3s Lunas. See this view from the wishing well, for example; and also this unusual view of a daliphant. (And remember, Mike and Colin never intended us to be able to explore this amazing place.) There's a lot to see and do - see the following posts.

The first few times you try to get into Snowy's world, you'll swear it's impossible. It's quite hard moving fast enough to get well-hidden behind the green crystals after shooting at the ringhead. We've all experienced that feeling of its impossibility; but keep trying, and you'll find you do improve, and when you finally succeed it will prove worthwhile. It is very difficult to do with a avatar, however, and you're strongly recommended to attempt this without an avatar in the first instance. (Nevertheless, on one memorable occasion, both MarĂa, as a blue dart, and the Wizard of Oz, as a butterfly, managed to meet there with avatars.)

If I were to pick out one particular aspect of Snowy's World that haunts me, it would be the quality of the light there. It's a moonlit night. The sky is very dark blue and studded with stars. The trees can look strangely spooky, or magically beautiful.

Curiously, there's no solid ground in Snowy's World - you, and the objects of the landscape, are just floating around. As you explore, you can find the whole of the snow cavern tunnel, strung out like a great silvery worm. You can approach it as closely as you like, and even go into it, if you wish (though you may not be able to get out again).

There are no barriers of course, so you can fly out to the daliphants, and look back at Snowy's World from under the daliphant's trunk. The flying horse looks particularly beautiful against the dark sky.
