The Platinum Collection has gone into the uk album charts at #36 first week of release!
I believe this is the same position that 'the complete MO' achieved back in the mid-80's

It's not a great placing by any means- but at least he is back in the TOP 40!!!!

By comparison, Light + Shade got to like #174- selling about 200 copies first week!  PC will have sold around 4-5,000+

I cannt see any sign of it on the Official TOP 75 LIST ???
Maybe its on some other unofficial charts or Compilation Lists.

It's at 26 at Amazon UK sales rank (this is updated hourly). So it may still rise a few place in the UK charts next week, if this is any indication.

Amazon or Virgin are not any indicator of the Official Placings
which you can find on Yahoo or from the BBC Top of the Pops Link...

Just a thought but I remember quite a few Artists of a Certain
Generation Moody Blues etc including there latest Album as
a Freebie with a Platinum Best of type Compilation to give
the Casual buyer a Taste of the new Material .... Maybe if
L&S wasnt a new Label .. This could of been a Option...!! Just a Thought !!

week 3 - #65 in the UK album charts. This is significantly better than all his previous album releases for the noughties. TB2003 only remained on chart for a week, and obviously we know the disasterous consequenses of TRES LUNAS and L+S failing to even chart in the uk.

My conclusuin is that by giving MO a bit of media coverage i.e the tv ad for PC as well as inerviews on Radio 2 and articles in the mail on sunday, people will be reminded of his name and therefore buy the album- there are still people out there who will uy his albums, but they first need to know that they are 'released' and i applaud Virgin/EMI for giving a decent bit of promotion for MO's albums because this album as a result has probably flogged more than TB2003, TL AND L+S all put together !!!!
