The April 1 item. Do you want Mike Oldfield to make "The Orchestral Earth Moving" ?

Oh, it could be fun! Imagine the orchestra rockin' HARD to the HEAVY METAL chords of 'Hostage' and 'See The Light', and going SOULFUL to the title track?

It was either this, or Those Darn Accordions giving us their rendition of "Ommadawn".

If the lady at the front does the splits for the entire Ommadawn rendition, then I'll be impressed!  ;)

As long as they keep the 'Far Country' guitar solo I'll be happy.  :)

Looks kind of strange that, among these hardcore Oldfield fans, a new verison of Earth Moving is more supported than Tubular Bells 4.

It's time for a change, ya know! :D

(though I'm starting to believe that, at least, half of the people who answered "yes" are being jokey about it... Hmm, isn't that some brilliant intuition?)

Today, "The Orchestral Earth Moving". Tomorrow, "Earth Moving II", followed by "Earth Moving III". Then, "The Millenium Moving".

Somewhere along the way, Mike will change his symbol from the bent bell to a bulldozer, and my SIG will be changed to "Mike Oldfield is more than just Earth Moving"

I think it's a bad idea. He should stick to new material. But I guess if David Bedford aranged it, Mike would still have time for other albums. I just can't see buying the same album with differant timbres.

Too late, the year has already passed. He'lll have to wait until 3003 to do something like this. Fry and Bender will be around to help him. He's going to have to be careful in order to live this long (hint, Mike: stay off the motorbikes).

Instrumental Earth moving, yes!

Someone please take off the vocal layers and re-master it :p

Bridge to paradise has a Chronologie-esque funk to it, Blue night would be nice too, I'm sure lots of it would work well.

Re-mix it to edit dull parts, PLEASE RELEASE IT!! :D:D

[I like it with vocals too, I however believe that an instrumental version would lower this album's hate rating between some fans]

Tubular Bells 4? Hideous idea, if you ask me...

Don't get me wrong - I love all three of the TBs (five if you include OTB and TB2003 - I would never, ever in a thousand years include TMB) but surely another incarnation would only lend weight to the popular notion that Mike's "Mr.Tubular Bells" and I think he deserves more than that...  :(

In this country, it would be a great improvement for everyone to have anynotion of Mike, period.

All I can say is that turning Earth Moving into an orchestral version is like turning a live cow into a piece of cooked beef patty without cutting up the cow - pretty much impossible, but you're welcomed to try. :)

Not at all... given you have an oven big enough.

Anyway, I'd really like to see an Orchestral Earth Moving... but not by Mike. I think it could suit those cover albums on the kind of "The London Symphony Orchestra Plays Hits of Elton John" and so on...

It'd be nice to have a "The London Symphony Orchestra Plays Mike Oldfield's Earth Moving"... with Adam Ant on guitars :P
